There are so many that volunteer and Iraq wasn't a threat, now many are disillusioned, several thousand are dead or injured, and many more are tired and over-worked!

Although we may have gone in there for the wrong reason, nukes, Saddam needed to be taken out, and the Iraqi people still need the U.S. troops.  Not only to fight, but to rebuild after Saddam's reign.

The people you know are not everyone, the military has had trouble reaching its recruitment goals ever since major combat operations "ended."

Sorry, for some reason I mistook Noret for Nezill and merged the posts....-Arbiter

another point: do to the Iraq "war" America has lost several allies and world support, America will fall and if it continues its current path it will do so soon and its not necessarily #1 anymore china could probably beat the U.S. if it tried, and remember MAD is still pretty much still here

Lot's of post after my last vist. USA will fall someday. but I doubt it will be within the next 100-150 years. And by fall I mean that it will keep it's area and it's 51 states or how many there are. unless some of them break away. And someday their presidential elections are so obviously rigged (they have covered it this far somehow) and the two or more candidates will storm on each others throats. then the decline begins. slowly at first but getting faster all the time it is surpassed by other countries in terms of weapon manpower and money. and one day they will realize that they are nothing and have no power on anything. And that day will come. USA falls. it is INEVITABLE!

First off, there is 50 states, and your idea seems to be one of the most plausible I have heard.

And to a comment that USA will never fall. Can you give an example of a country that has lasted to this day as the largest, the most powerful country of the world. and I mean a long time.

I meant that they will be so stupid they wont know how to add

And im not saying US will never fall, but most likely when it does, so will everyone else
And the roman empire lasted for 1500 years and it was constantly at war for survival, i see a long road ahead for the US

yes but in the time of Roman empire and it's greatness they didn't have weapons of mass-destruction. But still I also see a long road before USA is either destroyed or just reduced to a smaller status (which is more likely). You still have some 1000+ years perhaps. but who knows. I mean there have been lots of wars in the last decades. not big but neither war roman wars after Augustinus came to power. just little border problems. american wars in Afghanistan and Iraq can be counted on this category in my opinion. but just wait long enough and there will be someone who come and beat you.

The way i see though, fighting that can threaten a major nation is pretty much over, now that nukes are here, the only possibility of a major nation getting beat other than all out nuclear war, is by major terrorism
