yea. anything having to do with communism in novels that was written by americans is anti-soviet propaganda. if you look at it as a foreigner (particularly from russia) you will see it.

I was under the impression that for a large part of the book, the Soviet Union was winning?

yes. book where there is no good nor bad? pretty boring. especially if it's about cold war. there has top be a bad party.

I should read Miesvahvuus by Hannu Raittila for school but all finnish writers, except one, are really bad so I'll propably skip it and read The Mystery of the Blue Train by Agatha Christie who is a great writer.
