Sure, Ackbar was defeated a couple times, i dont remember the battles specifically though

And Thrawns defeats was that one planet he didnt quite anticipate, which to Thrawn was a loss but was technically a win since he destroyed their planet and the other when Rukh killed him, which isnt really military defeat

but something in common with both Thrawn and Ackbar is that neither of them was too proud to retreat when needed.

Individually, they are both excellent strategists. But together i think that they would not be unbeatable, since they both have different philosophies and battle tactics, which could easily conflict and cause confusion for their opponent to exploit.

I dont think their strategies are all that different enough to hurt them, besides Thrawn would be able to plan so far ahead they'd be able to work out differences

Why does everyone seem to fall back on the "Thrawn would foresee X and would have plans to deal with it", to me its like saying he is infallible, when clearly he isnt (otherwise he would have managed to avoid the great inconvenience of being killed by Rukh).

Its not like he could see the future, he just understood his enemy so well he could anticipate them with great accuracy
Rukh killing him doesnt really count because it wasnt an enemy strategist that defeated him or a fleet that beat him, it was a primitive race getting angry

I wouldnt define the Noghri as primitive. "It doesnt count because it wasnt an enemy strategist" - so only enemy fleets and strategists are important? What about the individuals who might make a small difference and completely change the circumstances (like Han defending Luke at Yavin), or the "primitive" species that get involved, (like the Ewoks at Endor) ?
