Inappropriate? Jeeze, you guys really have spent too much time creating vaguely phallic ships for the EotH.

Glad you guys aren't going with the milita spam angle like Armada. It's cool that they have tons of militia units but it mostly just slows down the game to a crawl...

To answer your question, sort of, while I'm not exactly sure of the role of the MC30c yet as I haven't gotten to play around with it very much, I can tell you that is very heavily armed compared to most of the other light cruisers available to the NR, it vastly outguns the MC40, however it does not carry fighters and comes a little bit later in the tech trees. Torpedo/ conc dps is mostly pretty low in Ascendancy compared to other hardpoints, but the MC30c's torpedo DPS is actually on par with those of its other weapons. Make no mistake, this ship is not going to be in your fleet to act as light fire support with ions, it's there to wreck some shit with turbolasers and proton torpedoes. It also retains its cluster bomb ability from FoC, which iirc can damage up to 8 nearby enemies.

I would guess, Slornie, that the carbonite army didn't last all that long considering A. They'd been in carbonite for centuries or even millenia, and B. Silri isn't exactly the greatest tactician and doesn't seem to have thought her plan through, how is she going to get all those troops off the asteroid? What is she going to do with them, will she even be able to get them to submit to her authority?

One of the few things to come out of Dark Empire I genuinely like.

A squadron of World Devastators make life very unpleasant for this poor ISD.

The problem with the unmovable units is actually an issue from the original EaW, you just don't encounter it as much there because there are less units. Basically, after X number of units are destroyed, you can't do anything anymore. I dunno why, that's just how it is. Petro did a pretty lazy job coding this game. Anyway, somebody actually created a savegame "defreezer" for that very issue recently, and it has worked when I've used it.

And yeah, BACs are just about the best heavy frigate in the game, except maybe the Chaf, and that's only because the Chaf's crazy slim profile makes it difficult to hit.

I honestly don't know one way or the other. That'd be something the dev team would be able to answer better than I.

Yeah, surviving the early eras as the NR is tough, but it's very satisfying to start advancing and pushing back the enemy. You really have to dig in and churn out MC80Bs and smaller ships as much as you can once you get a decent defense going.

I believe they'd been discussed for inclusion into ICW, but were ultimately rejected. The problem is just that they have so little to call their own. Even in canon, basically all they did was zerg rush a planet with ancient clone wars era ships. I could see a Restored Empire attack making a good random event though. In gameplay they'd probably be pitifully weak and have to rely solely on sheer numbers to overwhelm their opponents, and if we plan to include the Pentastar Alignment, they would basically have all the units the Restored Empire would plus a lot more modern ships to boot.

The result of a galaxy gun projectile impacting Bothawui in retaliation for Bothawui firing a galaxy gun at one of my own planets. (Note, imps are in control of Bothawui because preset starting positions aren't in yet) The Galaxy Gun is a horrifyingly powerful weapon capable of launching planet-destroying warheads through hyperspace. Once the Galaxy Gun projectile has been launched, there is no stopping it, and no saving its target. As to your request Mark, I'm not sure about posting videos, I can ask Corey, though. He's been a ghost the past week or so though, probably on account of finals like the rest of us.

I wish the re-release of the original X-Wing had included the UI upgrades of TIE Fighter and XWA.... the UI in X-Wing sucked big time and it made the game way harder than it already was... which is saying a lot

I dunno about videos, but we're allowed to post screenshots. There's not much terribly interesting about the way the game sounds at the moment though.

Just an update guys, the worst part of dead week is almost behind me, once I get a chance I am going to start testing more again and taking screenshots. Also, if there's anything specific in Ascendancy you guys would like to see (for instance, a closeup of 12 Carracks doing handstands while firing ion cannons at Quasar-fires), either PM me or just post here

Yes, but a very slight modification would fix that. Also, you know those words are spelled with s, right?

Seriously though, what would be the best way to post images in a comment? I intend to start posting alpha/ beta screenshots pretty often.

Probably, though I've always felt that lightsabers strangely lacked any sort of hand protection - it could be that was the idea, or simply someone decided "that looks cool!"

It's probably both. Hopefully it will lead to less of the infamous hand cutting off.

Just saw it, pretty cool, only thing I really found questionable was the ball droid, everything else was pretty sweet looking.

They want to be able to be free to tell their own story, a lot of the plotholes and idiocy in the prequel trilogy were a result of certain things needing to happen in order for the OT to still happen. It makes no sense for Obi-Wan and Yoda to split up when Yoda is going to confront Palpatine, who is on the same planet as both of them, but they would likely have been able to defeat him together, and the plot would never be able to happen. Granted, this could have been avoided with better writing,  but it is what it is.
