Another update.  I just took the CSA planets after sacrificing Lando and an armada of snowspeeders.  The IR keeps trying to suicide Thrawn so they can get to Era 3.

Needless to say, Era 3 cannot happen - Phalanxes and Sovereigns are nothing I can fight until all IR shipyards are down.  So far, they still hold Kuat and Byss.

All in all, this is a pretty challenging game but it is certainly a lot of fun - a much needed challenge.

Playing more of it, this is definitely going to be a challenge.  I can not really defeat SSDs, so they are marching through my territory.  I'm only fending the ground attacks with my air speeders.  Praetors are also becoming an issue.

So recently, I've had this little idea and have recently decided to try it.

I began an Admiral Art of War game as the NR with the intentions of winning without having ever built a capital ship.  The starting forces are all you can use.

Naturally, this lends itself to some warnings:

ISDs must be dealt with more tactfully now.
Beginning cap ships (even outdated models) must try to be preserved along with Heroes.
Staying in the earlier eras for as long as possible is ideal (so your beginning reserve is still somewhat effective)

Alternatively, you could try to beeline Era 5 and BACs, although I won't be doing that approach.

This method of playing could create a much needed challenge for many players and can even be applied to other GCs (IR Reunification comes to mind).

Try it out, and let me know what you guys think!

While they were fun game-play wise, I believe they were taken out in the mod because they were not technically canon.

I could be wrong about that, but I don't remember every planet having a space station in the lore.

I like that idea very much.  Definitely a win/win.

How many snickers do I need to give you to convince you to put them back in?

A light green would also be acceptable since the other shade of green is darker (IR).  I'd call EotH's color more of a whitish-blue.

I hope I smell a release coming soon.

I think I'm going to appreciate Teradoc's playstyle the most.  It seems the most similar to NR.

Memories just came back of that seventh grade Andorra report I was required to write.  Thanks for bringing them back, Corey!

Also, you both must have the exact same version of ICW.  That includes the 2.15 beta patch.

As for Tunngle, make sure you are logged in, search for empire at war, double click one of the FoC channels, and your UN should appear in the box.  You both must be logged into different Tunngle accounts, be in the same channel, and hit LAN in the game menu.

That's not a good sign.  I was hoping for a late summer release so I still had some time to enjoy it before school prevents me from ICW'ing for a long, long time.

I know Tunngle works, however with the ad spam I wouldn't recommend it.

When is an expected release time frame?  Will it be in Auugust or much later?

Okay, thank you.  I always figured the manual was correct but with the newer releases they may not have gotten to correcting the inaccuracies.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / AirStraeker Availability
« on: July 09, 2015, 06:24:11 PM »
I've just began my first Art of War with Empire of the Hand.  However, after building a light factory and heavy factory, I cannot build AirStraekers.

It's not listed in the Tech Tree, and the website states they are buildable in all eras.

What am I doing wrong?

Very good advice.  I only imagine he's fighting on one of those worlds that only begin with three population as starting forces, which is admittedly challenging.  I do not play IR, but I may be able to elaborate on tlmiller's advice a bit.

If in fact you are limited to three population and are not in Era 4, I would probably bring out one company of SPMA-Ts, one company of century tanks, and one company of Stormtroopers (to capture the landing point, obviously).  If there are Airspeeders or V-Wings (which the NR tends to field), then the SPMA-Ts may have to be substituted with AT-AAs (anti-air is a must for those scenarios).  If there are any air threats, bring out your AT-AAs first and camp your starting location until the air threats have died down.
