well they kill characters that were never meant to be killed like in the vong war (chewie r.i.p.). then mara (r.i.p.), and kyle katarn was badly hurt  >:( . like i never got into the series. all i did wuz look up jacen solo on wookie and i basically got the whole lotf story in one hour :laugh: .

LotF is just as much a part of Star Wars as the newly invented Warlord Shadowspawn, in Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor.. Personally i think i much prefer the idea of the former (aside the annoying similarity to the prequels, etc).

Sorry.  First mentioned in the Dark Empire Sourcebook, then in The Essential Chronology.  Shadows of Mindor is his first in-canon appearance though.

On topic: I do think Jacen should have been killed, but I also think that since he tried to warn off Tenal Ka and Allana instead of defend himself, he'll reappear as a force ghost to either Jaina or his parents in the Millenium Falcon book.
