why do u hate america? if it were not for us u guys would be lost. i mean we invented the tv, we invented the internet, cars and we even went to the planet moon. we won all the wars and we always help the little countries who cant fight and we give food to poor people.
Personally, considering the age of the original cast (long rumoured to be in the new films), I'd like to see the new trilogy skate lightly over the EU canon (i.e. not directly reference and not overtly contradict) and take place post Legacy of the Force/Fate of the Jedi. The text crawl might mention a galaxy weary after long years of war/rebuilding, for instance.More specifically, I'd like to see:- Focus on the next generation of characters (Jaina, Ben etc).- Luke as the elderly mentor (a la "Old Ben") who dies off in the first film.- Han/Leia take the Falcon against impossible odds with a reversal of the "I love you; I know" lines right before the ship crashes/explodes.On the subject of the new standalone films (supposedly to be screened in the off-years between the main trilogy), I would love to see Crispin's Han Solo trilogy given the movie treatment, perhaps alongside something bridging the PT and OT (maybe a Mothma/birth of Rebellion film?) or expand on the backstory of some other C-canon character(s).EDIT: Looking much further down the line (after the new trilogy and the standalones) I can see perhaps them coming back and filling in the time between the OT and the NT with a film treatment of the Thrawn Trilogy and other similar stories - at which point people will hopefully be able to accept a sympathetic recasting of the original characters. TV-wise, the long-stalled Underworld show would be nice, focusing on the period between films/trilogies and the stories of minor characters and the impact of those major events already shown. Maybe also a TV Rogue Squadron show?
Slornie just quick, I do not mean your idea is bad it is awesome but I think that the original cast is far too old to have major parts. Han is 70+ and Leia is not Leia anymore. The only one who bears any resemblance to their character is Luke but he is old too. I think it would be easier to recast now and be done with it rather than delay.
It'll be interesting to see how Leland Chee's recent announcement ties in with the new trilogy/standalone movies! Maybe there is some hope that the EU won't be trashed after all?
I wish this crap never see the sun ligth....
