I'd like to submit the idea that Carnor Jax would make a decent addition to the IRs hero list in Shadow Hand as well as the Royal Guards as line units.
One as a fan favorite character and important player in galactic events(albeit mostly behind the scenes until Palps death)
Two the IR is somewhat lacking in the ground hero department of Shadow hand whereas the NR has Han, Chewie, Luke, Mara, Corran, Kyle and Lando as well as buildable Jedi. The IR really has only Palps and Sedriss with Veers being weak against multiple infantry ground heroes. I make the case that Carnor Jax and the royal guard would help balance this somewhat.
1)they are close range fighters similar but slightly weaker than the NRs mass produced Jedi offering new tactical options for the IR player with sprint ability but come in small numbers(say 3 to a group) and can separate like the Noghri squads.
2) The in game models for the Royal Guard already exist from FoC base game and need little tampering
3)While the IR has two heroes that are powerful against infantry groups they cannot zap hero units with lightening or convert them, making them somewhat outmatched by the hordes of NR heroes, nor are they great against vehicles(save for the convert ability if you get close enough). Jax could be given the crush vehicles ability and either the force push or sprint ability to make him a threat to both vehicles and infantry or at least have the ability to retreat quickly.
4) Jax need only a modified colored helmet and the cloak turned black instead of red. Most of his telekinesis he barely gestured so no need to animate the use of the abilities I would think. While his weapon in comics is different it could be assumed he used standard forcepike during Shadow Hand.
5)Jax also offers an alternative to Palps should he be killed
-
Agreed. Also, Kir Kanos would make a reasonable addition as well (with the double bladed Vibroblade). Actually, he might be a better idea, as he was loyal to the Emperor and didn't want to kill him. As I brought out in the 2.1 suggestion thread, he could be given Sprint and Vape Charge (like the Phalanx Commandos have). He could then be a threat to infantry and vehicles. In space he could be given a Royal Guard TIE/In in space like Luke has an X wing.
I also agree that Royal Guards should be available to be built in Palpatine's Era.

Kirtan Loor, Wraith Squadron, Galak Fyyar and Desann would be good additions as well.

The Empire Reborn was way too small to include in the mod.

What do you think about Kanos and Jax?

They also have vehicles which are much heavier than anything the NR has, and Sedriss/Palps are more powerful than almost all of them.

Imperial Guards as buildable units have been in and out of the mod several times over the last several years. As was Carnor Jax.

While I'm not opposed to Carnor (abilities can't be done how you're suggesting, if they don't have an animation he'll lock up), I am opposed to the guards. Lore-wise, they're not really footsoldiers. As units though, they've always fallen flat and been useless traps/credit black holes. Melee units in EaW tend to be absolute trash, the reason Jedi work is their ability to reflect/deflect blaster bolts and to heal. Otherwise it just turns into kite city and they get immediately mowed down unless you make them absurdly tanky. They're just not good.

Carnor is a fine compromise I think. I'd be happy with seeing him in and he would bring the IR's Ground heroes to 4 with a little variety in Shadow Hand and as you showed the model does exist.

I just mean as Era 4 Remnant heroes.

I just mean as Era 4 Remnant heroes.
But they all got killed very quickly didn't they and weren't they separate from the IR anyway?
-
Yeah, we can't really make people Remnant heroes when they weren't associated with it.
-
Well, technically you COULD since it's your mod. Noone but the mod team decided to try to follow canon. It would just go against the whole "we follow canon as much as possible" that you've said at least since I've followed the mod. :D

Fuck it, Borg fifth faction. I wanna just model a cube and call it a day.
-
Shouldn't take long. Fairly easy to design, what with being a box...

It could just have one line for every action you order it to do. "We are Borg, resistance is futile. You will be assimilated." Slap a couple voice filters on there to make it sound like its a bunch of voices in unison and call it a day.
-
Noooo. we must not be corrupted by the evils of that which must not be named.

and as you showed the model does exist.
You mean the model did exist in 2006. It might not anymore.

There's also the issue of how to differentiate Jax from other similar heroes. There aren't a whole lot of force powers in EaW to work with, and he might just end up being a redundant hero. That said though, if it could be done and have him be unique without too much trouble, I don't see why he shouldn't be included!

Well the other two Force users have corrupt and lightening making them pretty good against infantry. For Carnor why not a Vader principle? The force crush and either a sprint or force sight? Both of which were abilities he used I might add and this would differentiate him from Palps and Sedriss.

Sounds good I spose, would make him useful without having him be a carbon copy force user (I'm looking at you, New Republic...)
-
That could work, and I would love to see him in there. That being said, I still think Kanos could find a niche in there as well. That is just my personal opinion, mind you, but I would like to see him in the mod.
-
I like Kanos too, but he would be only good vs Infantry(unless given the Therm det like the chiss commandoes) and perhaps the berserk ability Yoda has in base game but that couldn't be animated so he would be a weaker version of Sedriss.

If you think that the Royal Guard in the Empire at War stink why don't you use the stormtrooper template make it red and update the stats to make them better fighters. And if you want to stick to the lore give them the same treatment as the Katanna Dreadnaught.
-
Why not just make Stormtroopers tougher like they're supposed to be (Unlike how everything portrays them *Cough* stormtrooper effect *cough*
-
Because infantry in this game is, unlike default FOC, quite weak...likek they actually should be.

Yep, I remember the FoC plays. Infantry didn't do much damage, but as long as the enemy didn't have artillery they were the tankiest tank in tankdom. The almighty Stormtrooper wall never let me down. I am glad that infantry in TR is more balanced.

keeps the ai from spamming too many of em

Yeah I'd definitely take the weaker troops with better DPS than the tank troopers.

Plus it's fun watching vehicles slaughter them

Gotta admit, I do enjoy that. Especially when it's a tracked vehicle that doesn't even bother firing, and just rolls them over.

"TIE Mauler reporting"

Well I also like walking over them with the AT STs still kills em

Yep. Although I must admit it was much more satisfying to run them over in the vanilla, since the infantry were tanks. It was like "you are trying to spam infantry?? LOL I spam Maulers and AT-STs.
It was also fun to squish t-2bs with AT-ATs.

For me though electrocuting multiple formations at once and leaving nothing but crackling skeletons in my wake is so satisfying
