Best Fleet Composition?
« on: October 02, 2018, 08:34:08 PM »
Rules: 1. No dreadnaughts or super-weapons(Since they are generally uncommon).
2. Legends and Canon mash-up acceptable.
3. Feel free to comment on other's fleet compostions.

My ideal fleet would be an Alliengence as my Flagship, flanked by 6 Victory lls. I would use Arquintens and Vindicators for blindspots as my capital ships charge. Also, I would utilize two Secutors to safely carry my starfighters in from the backline, and Lancer class frigates to protect my ships from fighter/bomber attack.

I'd probably have Tectors & MC-90's as my primary combatants, with CC-VSD's as support, Endurance carriers to give some additional fighter supply.  Probably CR-90's for anti-fighter since lancers are so slow.  For starfighters, I'd have Tie Avengers as primary fighter, and the Skipray Blastboat as my primary bomber.

My fleet Comp. is straightforward but also... not to be taken seriously.

I would use an "experimental" Allegiance Class Dreadnaught--- *IIRC, for Starships, anything at or larger than 4 kilometers long was considered a dreadnaught. The Allegiance was... somewhere around 4.4 klicks long give or take?* --- whose main reactor is By the power of "head-cannon" and badassery ,powered by the band 5FDP, this project was given the code name "Bad Company"  . With this new "reactor" , the power output  of the weapon systems is multiplied by a factor of eight

(who needs a support fleet when you have this?)

Oops forgot to add fighters. I would use whatever Y-wings, Arc-170s, and A-wings I could fit inside my Secutors and VSD IIs

As a Flagship i would use a Praetor MK II Battlecruiser.
The Main "Body" of my fleet would be Victory Class Star Destroyers MK II
Each Victory would be escorted by 2 Arquitens-class Light Cruiser, 2 Raider Class Corvettes and a Gozanti Class Cruiser

As a special Reserve i would have 2 Immobilizer 418, 4 Ton-Class Escort Carrier, 4 Enforcer Class Picket Cruiser and 4 Lancer-Class Frigates

As Fighters my main fighter screen would be Tie Interceptors, my bombers would be Tie Interdictor, some Tie Aggressors as Multi-Purpose Starfighters
and 1 Squad of Tie Defenders on board of my Flagship.

I would go for more smaller ships that still have a decent amount of firepower.

For example people seem to like the Crimson Command VSD fleets. For the crew of a ISD I/II you cna crew 4 or 5 VSD I/II and they will pack more firepower, more fighters etc than an ISD. Cost wise I think you can get 3 VSDs for an ISD. Rather than design a bigger better superweapon design a VSD III with slightly better engines and 3 VSD>ISD.

Going a bit further you can also crew 2 or 3 strike cruisers for exach VSD and once again they are cheaper. Strike Cruisers pack a lot of firepower for what they are. In RPG stas they have stronger turbolasers than an ISD with the ISD II being comparable. You can probably crew around 17 or 18 strike cruisers fore each ISD. 12 or 13 strike cruisers have a lot more firepower than a single ISD, carry more TIE fighters etc. You might need a troop transport type ship like an acclaimator.

A modernized Venator carrying better yet affordable TIEs is also a good option. One of them packing 300 TIE interceptors would be decent. So instead of ISDs you run strike cruisers or VSDs with a 1-2 Venator or Venators II.

So a hypothetical fleets would be VSD III, Strike Cruisers, and Venators II's. The smaller crews would also save you money on things like wages.

For the rebels they already have great fighters and the New Class program had good ships for later designs. They did tend to lack good designs that couopd be massed produced until the New Class ships but things like the Dauntless, carriers and the various frigates were good designs. Mon Cals were good as well but could not be mass produced.
