« on: February 25, 2008, 09:47:27 PM »
what modelling tools do you use im assuming 3d max or maya but i could be wrong
also how do you skin something, what doctor nick does,
are there any free programs that can do stuff like this,
i have some modding experience in warcraft 3, but nothing serious,
also do you guys know of any tutorial sights for the map maker and other tools like http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/ for warcraft 3
id like to learn a little more about eaw foc modding (im not really experienced in warcraft 3 either, but moreso than empire at war)
anyways,
thanks  :)

Modelling: 3ds max 6 or 8
Skinning: Photoshop CS3 (GIMP can be used but does not produce as high quality but it is free)
Mapping: EAW or FOC Map Editor. Just look on EaWfiles for it.
Tutorials: EverythingEAW(might want to wait until a certain person's posts are deleted), FF forums and Omega Modding Group forums.

Yeah but someone needs to convert them to an .alo format. Winds 3d does not export into .alo so you need some one with max to do the conversion.
Free Modelling Programs:

Gmax
Blender
Wings 3d
Maya PLE

All these require someone else with max to convert them however.

Uh basically make a skin in .dds format(need a plug-in for this) and then you hex-edit. that's my one second answer. :D
