Cannon Post-Endor vs Legends Post-Endor.
« on: September 14, 2017, 10:31:39 PM »
So before you do the pole I am going to list the pros and cons and do some comparative analyses of the two.
This will contain spoilers for the Aftermath Trilogy(Though to be fair it is garbage) lost stars(actually a good book), and the Poe Dameron comics.
Starting with Cannon

Cannon Post Endor:
Following the battle of Endor the Empire was in a bit o chaos. Most of the main Imperial leaders rallied at a emergency summit in Akiva. They had made plans for the future, but Emperor Palpatine had plan his own orders to be carried out to ensure both he destruction of the Empire and its enemies. TO do this he had his protégé Gallius Rax make plans, and build Sentinel droids. they have a contingency which call for the destruction of Imperial planets that Sympathize with the Empire. This was called Operation: Cinder and the Worlds in targeted include Commenor, Fondor, Buirn Kohm, and Naboo. Ulitmaelty this planned failed because the NR found these out and stopped them. Meanwhile Governor Adheard and some top ranking Imperials broke off dissenting themselves from the already weakened Empire. This lead to Terrorist Cells, and Criminal factions attempting to take over the Anoat Sector from Governor Adheard, and the Purge Troopers. This was back by the rebellion, and various criminal groups who eventually took back the Anoat Sector form Governor Adheard. Following this Gallius Rax was intentionally causing the fall of Imperial high command. He Leaked Classified intelligence to the NR and got many imperial Commanders executed by the NR. He also took control of the main imperial forces and station them over Jakku. This lower Morale since they were trapped on a desert planet. Then the Battle of Jakku to place and fighting continue for months with many star destroyers orbiting the planet. In the end the NR won. However this wasn't the end. Coruscant was in a tricky state, it have very view rebel sympathizers, but also had groups that wanted the planet free from both being a independent planet. When riots broke out the NR backed rebel sympathizers giving them weapons and military support. this lead to bloody fighting in the streets with NR terrorists killing people who didn't support the NR. In the end the Nr got the Grand Vizer to sign the treaty which dissolved the Empire. The NR also hired, Criminals, assassins, and terrorists to hunt down and execute imperial personnel on the grounds of "He is a former Imperial kill him" idea. Brenndal hux, Arimtage Hux, Children brainwashed into being storm troopers, and Rae Salone fled into the Unknown Regions using data they got from the Imperial Archives. They found the Eclispe and founded the first order.

Legend Post-Endor:
I am going to sum it up in points because most of us know
1. Isard took over Empire. NR fought Imperial Warlord Zsinj while rouge Squadron fought in the Bacta War for the cure to the virus unleashed on Coruscant. They succeed and isard was presume dead. Wraith Squadron, and Rogue Would go on to fight and kill Warlord Zsinj.
2. in 9ABY Thrawn took over remnants of the Empire with backing from: Remnants of the Galactic Empire: ruled by the Imperial Ruling Council until Thrawn's return, Pentastar Alignment: ruled by Grand Moff Ardus Kaine, Ciutric Hegemony: ruled by Prince-Admiral Delak Krennel, Corellian sector: ruled by Diktat Daclif Gallamby, Oplovis sector: ruled by Fleet Admiral Gaen Drommel, Antemeridian sector: ruled by Moff Getelles. Led a very successful Campaign Against the NR and Almost won if not for Ruhka Assassinating him.
3. Around 10ABY the Remaining Imperial Warlords join together and fought in a campaign that devastated the NR. Then the Imperial Munity happened which is when the Emperor revealed himself and brought the Warlords together. They launch Operation Shadow hand which was a mixed back, but ultimately the Emperor died and the Warlords went back to being themselves. Their was the Crimson Empire but they lasted a year and the Empire was now fully divided...
4. Dalaa reunited the Empire! .... by murdering the Warlords for failing to agree to work together. Her and Pealleon launch a Campaign on the Jedi Praxxium using the KnightHammer. Dalaa's plan fail because she was too arrogant and she sucks as a battle commander. She passed on command to Pealleon who annexed the PA and Made the IR.
5. After the Camasis Crisis the IR and NR sigend the Pealleon-Gaverison treaty which ended all NR and IR fighting mostly. Their were some Imperial Resistances against but in the end this is where are timeline stops.

now lets look at pros and cons

Cannon Post-Endor:
Pros:
1. Very interesting concepts with NR using terrorists, Criminals, and bad people to do serious damage to the Empire.
2. The battle of Jakku is a great concept.
3. Imperial Superweapons are kind of cool.
4. We have a pretty good possibilities for new stories about Imperial Remnants.
Cons:
1. Every story from here on out set in the Post-Endor Period must follow this format. They poorly wrote the Aftermath series which affected great books and comics like Lost Stars, or Shattered Empire. This is really annoying and poorly written to the point where it seems like everything action the Empire does is due to the contingency, and no character or Imperial Leader questions it at all. Also Grand Vizer Mas Amadia should have had the authority before he was jailed to take over the Empire and jail Gallius Rax.
2. A lack of reasoning and logic: Their was no reason for Imperial Commanders to follow Operation: Cinder and every character just seems to stupid to see the potential problems with this plan.
Now doing my Cinema sins impression:
"lets talk about the contingency plan: It rallies on Gallius Rax to launch Operation Cinder to destroy and decimate planets that support the Empire without any questioning of authority from the Imperial High Command, It then rallies on him leaking data to the rebels in order to kill high members of the Imperial Military, this also doesn't take into account if the Imperial forces rallying behind a new Leader like Garrick Veriso, Iden Veriso, Rae Sloane, Brendal Hux, Armitage Hux, and or any remaining characters. Then Gallius needs to take control of the Imperial forces have them set up for a battle on Jakku somehow prevoking a military response from the New Republic who mst fight in a full on battle while he blows up Jakku using a bunch of random sith shit he is throwing in the Core. And he must escape without dying to the unknown regions with both factions being destroyed and him being able to form a new Empire. Now I am Serious when I mean this plan is bullshit."
DING!

Now Legends Post-Endor:
Pros:
1.Vary Diverse Story telling. A lot of the books, comics, and video games that were set after Endor were great stories: The Thrawn Trilogy, X-wing Series, The Crimson Empire comics, the Jedi Knight games. All are prime examples of good story telling.
2. More creative freedom: Stories in post endor all show different perspectives with chaos everywhere and great insight into different peoples view on the galaxy.
3. Decent Logic: Some logic of the Eu was bullshit but they did a better job compared to cannon.
Cons:
1. it was a mess and some stories were really contradictory( *cough* *cough* X1 and X2 *cough* *cough* )and this could piss me off sometimes and it always anger me sometimes.
2. Lack of direction: Many times the direction of the Stories change drastically going from Isard to Thrawn then to Clone Emperor, then Dalaa was kind of a clusterfuck of direction especially with the Dalaa books.
3. Not enough ship details: this is a nitpick but some ships should have had designs because It would help benfit people like Corey who have to come up with models for ships.

In the Legends, the Grand Vizir also tried to sell the Empire to the NR, but thanks to Isard and Krennel, he failed.

The Story Group wanted the Civil War to end quickly but it's still a bad explanation of how it could have happenned.

I prefer the NR that earned its freedom and the control of the Galaxy in the blood of its citizens than the one that traded it for nothing (or got it because of the action of a handful).

Yeah the NR in Cannon is more terrorists less heroic freedomfighters.

The post endor events in new canon are actually SUPER interesting. Including how the NR could not control the same amount of space as the Empire or the old Republic, and how the First Order was also included inside the NR. It is also pretty cool how they got their equipment through unofficial partnerships and shell companies

I mean true, but then why the most ridiculous plan to destroy the Empire? You could have just had Gallius Rax take the survivors of Jakku to go build his Empire, but no he is really stupid.

Also In the Phasma book it was said that a majority of the first order Storm troopers are recruited while the children they kidnap are for special forces. That COMPLETELY CONTRIDICTS why Finn was on Jakku as a regular storm trooper. Shouldn't he have been a special forces storm trooper? ALSO where so they get all these recruits? WHO THE FUCK WOULD JOIN the first order? Also why is the first order so powerful if it is 1/10 the size of the Original Empire?

It makes sense for Palpatines character, he did the same thing in Dark Empire if you think about it. Also I thought those guys were Special forces I would have to check the comic about it. And they probably haven't explained it yet. I'd give it time. For example it took decades to figure out the proper size of the executor.
