Force Awakens recap in light of things to come

With rouge one on the horizon, I think we should all remember what we were waiting from the force awakens and what we got.
If you think the movie was good, then good for you, but I think different.

Thought to be fair, in both canons, the Unknown Regions were, well, Unknown. Half the galaxy. In Legends the EotH were responsible for conquering them, in Disney's EU (calling it that) the First Order decided to.

That has absolutely no bearing on the matter; I just happen to like the NR logo better than the Imperial one. Besides, the New Republic came out of VII pretty poorly so surely that would be a reason not to like it!
