In-Game Glitch
« on: September 28, 2016, 07:49:19 PM »
I first want to say that this is a wonderful creation and deserves much praise for its success. I love this game.

I have been playing this a lot during my free time. During game play I prefer to stay on the defensive and build up a massive fleet before invading, but after a while the game will glitch. My ships will come out of hyperspace and I cannot select them, therefore I am unable to control them, this also applies to ground invasions. I have started over my conquest saves multiple times in an attempt to fix the issue with no success.

If you have time, could you explain what I need to do to fix this? Because I love this game and would love to continue to play it.

I downloaded Empire at War off of steam and manually added the mod file stated in the instruction video.

I apologize, I just went through the files on the forums and found the glitch has been fixed in an update.

Sorry for wasting your time. Love this game  :)

No need to apologize, most people just skip this step:

I just went through the files on the forums

I wish to apologize again, because I still haven't fixed my issue. I downloaded the file. And I am unsure where to place it within my folders. I placed it into the files that I thought were the source of the issue but the glitch is still happening.

Can you explain how I can correct this?

I do believe it comes with the download, but not sure if 2.1 did or not....

You don't need to place it anywhere. The defreezer is a program you run on its own, and open your save game with it.

So I don't have to add the .rar to my data folder?

Then how does it work?

Sorry I'm a noob

Download winrar or 7zip if you don't have it, then right click the rar and "extract here." The actual defreezer is in there.

Ok so I figured out how to defreeze the files but I am now experiencing the glitch where the game crashes upon trying to load an unfrozen file.

I'm not aware of the defreezer making a save game crash. Did you install the 2.15 patch while you were getting the defreezer?

I think this crash only happens to auto save defreezes, because my regular save file is working just fine. And yes i do have the ICW215Patch file.
