Neither are great honestly. They did not impress me.

Neither is anything in this mod then, since mostly every unit, GC, faction comes from those novels. At least for me they'll always take a higher position over the stuff Disney churns out.

Oh no guess I got another Truce at Bakura / Tatooine Ghost ahead of me then. Currently on the Jedi Academy Trilogy.

I really enjoyed the Thrawn novels up til the end where Luuke and Luke battle each other. The clone thing was kind of overdone a lot. the Duology that came afterwards was a little weird however, really oddly written and hard to follow.

Can't say I had that problem... I thought the Hand of Thrawn duology was excellent stuff (as well as Zahn's other books).  And in case anyone's not gotten around to them yet, the X-Wing series of books is a lot of fun all the way through.

Agreed I loved both the duology and X-Wing Series. I really like the balance between Stackpole's political aspects and wide scope, as well as Allston's humor and great character development between the members of the Wraiths. Did you get a chance to read the Rogue Squadron comics? They're quite good and continuity with the novels are nice.

You also have to remember when Zahn wrote it he was one of the first to do the whole cloning thing, even before Attack of the Clones (ironically).

I know where you guys are coming from, like I said they were good. I should probably re-read all the thrawn books and of course the x-wing collection as well. I was lucky enough as a child that one of my mom's friends gave me all of his star wars books, and let me tell you; there were a LOT.

If we're talking about the X-Wing novels, and with Delta currently on the Jedi Academy trilogy, what's everyone's views on Stackpole's I, Jedi?  Until the new novel about Luke it was the only one written first-person, and I've always rated it amongst my favourites.  I like the continued character development of Corran from the X-Wing novels and how the story has been weaved around the events of Anderson's trilogy.

Same here got a large pile from a family friend then bought the rest to fill the gap and started reading and still am. These books are like the final frontier before we get overwhelmed by the horde of books coming from Disney.

Oh I can't wait then I'm getting I, Jedi in the mail tomorrow and about to finish the 2nd book in the Jedi Academy trilogy. When I finish that I, Jedi I'll gladly weigh in on it as I've read both the X-Wing novels and comics loving the continuity of Corran's story.

Yeah, honestly the best I found were Boba Fett trilogy set immediately after Endor, the X Wing series, Thrawn Trilogy, Darksaber, Crimson Empire series, Hand of Thrawn Dualogy, and Survivors Quest.
The Black Fleet Crisis is pretty solid as long as you skip the Luke side story. The Yevetha were the first really brutal enemies on par with the Vong as far as how cruelly they are portrayed. There is some interesting political and moral scenarios for Leia, they introduce a good new character in Etahn A'bhett, and Landos side story though it distracts from what's going on in the central plot is enjoyable by itself.

I would even suggest skipping all the Lando chapters as well when you first read the trilogy, then reading them separately later on. The BFC really is about three entirely separate stories, so reading them in a more cohesive way may provide better reading experience.

The BFC also has the best Ackbar we've ever had and that's quite something considering that Stackpole also wrote his character very well in some of the X-Wing novels. Between Ackbar and A'baht it really has better fleet commander action than even Gar Stazi or Thrawn had in their respective novels/comics.
