If not for the freeze it would be beatable.  You set a good fleet up, then wait for the Executors/Sovereigns/Praetors to attack you.  Hyper-V, or preferably, Ion Cannon them.  With the PA/EoTH, keep an Interdictor heavily defended from fighters in the far corner so it doesn't get attacked to keep the Dreadnoughts from running when they get low and just keep Hypervelocity gunning it every time it recharges.  Praetors take 4 to destroy, Sovereigns I think it was 7, Executors 8 or 9.  As the NR, Ion Cannon disables that ships ability to hyper, so if they retreat, they lose that ship.  Once the first Ion hits, the shields are down, swarm that bad boy with fighters and reap it's hardpoints.

It's just a patience thing.  But unfortunately, due to the freeze, you'll never win if you have patience.

Patience? I say it's sloth.
I think it's better to kill the enemy shipyards than to sit around and wait for them to build ten executors.

Although, I do agree that the sovereign build limit might be too high, considering that an Eclipse and two Sovereigns will deploy all at once.

You will never see Eclipse in FTGU, there are no heroes.

Also, Sovereign is/will be current build limit of 1, lifetime limit of 4.

Starting wtih a single planet that's a heavy frigate shipyard, and with a fleet of 2-4 ships depending on your faction, how do you plan on destroying the shipyards before they can build Executors?  Only the NR has the capability to go toe to toe on even ground with an Executor (using their space whale), and that still requires you get a Capital shipyards before you can consider building one.  EoTH or PA is suicide unless you're HEAVILY built up your fleet, and even then, you will suffer heavy casualties taking them out, so you need to have a very well established income before you can consider attempting it without leaving yourself defenseless.

I've done it before as NR.
Bothan Assault Cruisers are relatively cheap for their usefulness, and don't require drive yards to be built. Nine of them can be built for around the same price as a Viscount, but much faster. They are usually fast enough to stay in the blind spot of an Executor, and a dozen of them could easily engage one should it come to that. They're only really vulnerable when outnumbered or outranged. Bothawui is surrounded by high income planets which can be taken quickly and allow a constant stream of them to be built.
This, of course, is keeping in mind that you don't have to take every shipyard - only the ones which the IR is likely to take. Fondor is well within your territory, Dathomir and Syca usually go to the Hand. Byss is so heavily guarded that the IR usually don't try it until they have a shipyard of their own, so that leaves Bilbringi. I figure it's about ten weeks to build a shipyard and an Executor once Bilbringi is taken, so that gives you plenty of time to make a beeline for it.

I imagine EotH can be done similarly, since they have Warlord Gunships which can also engage Executors in the blind spot, are rather cheap, and require nothing more than a heavy frigate shipyard. Their location makes it difficult to get more than Dathomir and Syca, but they can still advance fast enough to take the rest before all the Executors are built.

I suppose the PA is the only one which can't engage Executors directly. I'll think about that one.

Of course, the last two are just in theory. I have exams, but I'll be able to try them in May.

I will admit I've never played FTGU as the NR, as I simply don't enjoy that faction, and so don't even know what planet you start with.  However, I would assume it's NEAR Mon Cal, so Bilbringi is hardly in the area, you'd have to go through Dathomir or the Core to reach it.  The only time I've ever played as them is the Shadow Hand GC during the beta for 2.0 as that was my GC to beta test.

EoTH is on the opposite side of the galaxy as Dathomir, and Dathomir STARTS with an Executor (Zsinj).  Syca you can capture moderately easily, as if you can build chaf's, you can (moderately) easily defeat the fleet defending it (you'll need a decent amount of Chaf's however, it's not a pushover fleet).

As Darman said, it's at Bothawui. Nearby are Fondor, Thyferra, Nal Hutta, Denon, and Duro. NR isn't usually all that great to play as, but in FTGU they're immensely powerful because of the credits. You do have to go through the core to get to Bilbringi, but it's not that bad if they don't have shipyards.

EotH is indeed far away from Dathomir, but if you look at the structure of the galaxy, Dathomir is actually the closest shipyard after Syca. It may not be necessary to even fight Zsinj or the Syca fleet, since you have phalanx commandos.

No, Dathomir isn't closest.  Yaga Minor is 6 planets away.  Dathomir 8.

And yes, you can CAPTURE Dathomir without fighting him, but you still can't build shipyards until you destroy him, so it does no good.  He'll continue to set there in orbit even after you capture the planet.

My mistake.

A fair point about Zsinj still being there. Let's say you can't kill him yourself. The Remnant wants Dathomir, and it has to go through Zsinj to get it. Your fleet can then engage the fleet that kills Zsinj. If your fleet's too small for that, that's where the phalanx commandos come in. They can hold the planet for some time, in which the Remnant can't start building a shipyard, and in which you can bolster your fleet.

After all, I'm not taking the drive yards to build capital ships, I'm just taking them so the IR can't.

Um, Phalanxes are the Hand troops. The Remnant would have to use Noghri, which unfortunately they do not have in FTGU. (If I am wrong about that, still, why waste all that effort getting to Honoghr?)

As for knocking out larger ships, for the Remnant I suppose Victory-IIs are an option, if not the best. For NR I definitely agree, BACs are pretty freaking amazing.

Alright, so I wrote my last exam yesterday, and started May earlier than anticipated. First up was PA.
I'm really eating my words now. It's definitely impossible to kill all drive yards as PA before any SSDs are built.
However, I just did a game on Admiral wherein I occupy all Imperial and NR Capital Shipyards by week 49. The IR built 3 SSDs in all (2 Executors and a Sovereign, all of which were named Annihilator) as well as 1 Praetor. If anyone will tell me how, I'll post the game saves.

That's because they're not a canon ship, they're a fan made ship that has never been accepted into canon, so you'll never see them in this mod unless they're added into canon status (such as the Bellator and Assertor classes were), and even then, I'd consider it unlikely.

After that I demand another shrubbery! It must be placed here, beside the first shrubbery, only slightly higher so that we get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle. Afterwards, I demand that you cut down the mightiest tree in the forest . . . With . . . A HERRING!!

As to what I'd actually want Ingame, I think y'all know by now: A Gladiator SD!

If I had to choose something I'd really want to see that isn't already in the mod, it would be the Assertor.  I really like the way it looks...
