Author Topic: Imperial Civil War crashes on startup (Read 8905 times)

Hi
I've been playing Forces of Corruption on my PC for some time now and my friend recommended me this mod. I installed it and when I launch it all I get is the picture of the Stormtrooper and then I go back to my desktop.
I run Windows 8.1 and Forces of Corruption works fine without compatibility mode. I installed version 2.1 of the mod and re-installed it twice and it still doesn't work.
I also have the game in German.
If somebody could help me, I would highly appreciate it.

On a side note: this might sound dumb but I couldn't figure this out myself. Is Thrawn's Revenge and Imperial Civil War the same thing?

1. Do you have the FoC ram patch?

2. What files are in your Imperial_Civil_War\Data\Text folder?

Yeah, it's the same. The full name of the mod is Thrawn's Revenge: Imperial Civil War. We just more often identify with the subtitle.

I should have the patch installed and I have 'CreditsText_GERMAN.DAT' and 'MasterTextFile_GERMAN.DAT in that folder

Is it crashing (exception error) or is it just coming up and dropping back to the desktop without an error?

This sounds a lot like what happens when there's an issue with the text files.... Try deleting the Credits file.

The game still crashes :-(
should I maybe try to patch the game to an English version?

If your friends' version works, try deleting your Imperial_Civil_War folder and putting theirs on a USB and transferring it.

1. Did you make any changes at all other than changing/replacing the MasterTextFile_LANGUAGE.dat file?
2. Have you tried running any other mods?
3. Have you tried running in compatability mode?

Also I have the Mod in English but the base game in German. Is that a Problem?

I'd suggest trying to run another mod; then I'll at least have a better idea of where the problem is coming from.

I installed the Stargate Mod and when I try to launch it, I only see the console window for a second and then nothing happens.

It works now. When you told me to delete the master text file I accidentally deleted the file from the base game, not the mod. I was a dumbass and didn't read. The Stargate mod isn't working because something is wrong with the .bat file and I will have to sort that out later. Thanks for the help and sticking with me. Now can I just play the game regularly even tho I'm missing the file?

hi
i have the same problem as tobiderfisch
but with me the game starts up and shows the picture of the stormtrooper and freezes .
It just doesn't react anymore, I didn't changed the language or anything and before i played a clone wars mod and that worked justt fine.
can you please help me

That isn't the same issue. If it's causing an exception error, you most likely need the ram fix. If it's just sitting at the stormtrooper loading screen, then you probably just need to give it more time to load. The mod is 5 gigs, so it can take some time depending on your computer.

I get the mod to work now with no problem. I renamed the text file from MasterTextFile_GERMAN.dat to MasterTextFile_ENGLISH.dat and it works perfectly. Thanks for the help.
