Im kind of torn between saying hell do a good job or a bad one. Judging by Into Darkness, which was pretty good imo, I think hell do a good job. Allot better one then lucas did anyway with the prequels................ :'(

Your thoughts mirror mine.  I was impressed by the latest Trek movie and, sorry Lucas, but Abrams would have to try to do worse than you.
Did you see that?  Know what that cost?  $58,000.  I mean, what a waste.  It wasn't even funny.  That's $58,000 that could have gone to curing leukemia.  Or.  muscular dystrophy.  Or... what does Michael J. Fox have?  That.  Alright, let's watch some damn cartoons.

I just hope that this movie wont contradict any major events from the eu, and the only thing I truly worry about is the lens flare, but I don't know if Abrams got better about that, as I have only seen star trek 09 not the new one.

Torn between enjoying the remake but also loving the decades of story that was dumped in the pursuit of a reboot.  I can see myself feeling this way in a few years.

I think the original trek was just plain horrendous...

It almost undoubtedly will, but that's probably a good thing since it gives them more freedom to make a good story the way they see fit. Plus, I personally think a lot of the EU is not really worth saving...

A lot of the EU is "HOW WILL LUKE AND THE JEDI SAVE THE GALAXY TODAY?!" Kind of annoying.

Yes, I am necroing this thread, but for good reason. Search for Stranger Bad Robot and look up the YouTube video. Apparently this is a teaser for one of Abrams' new projects. What sayith thou? Is this some Abramsian allusion to Star Wars, or not?

I'm VERY iffy on the future of SWs. Sigh it's terrible to go into book stores and KNOW beyond a shadow of doubt that I've seen the best of SW EU and the well has dried up, same with the movies.

This will either be a culling of anything good left to the SW universe or a rebirth.  Kinda hard to say until I hesitantly go into the theater as the fateful day approaches.  At least he has low expectations in his favor.

Edit:  I can't make heads or tails about the trailer.  Absolutely no idea.  Begins at the water ends at the water?  That doesn't sound like SW at all.

Perhaps it's a movie about Mon Calamari?
