As I said, one of my grandparents has a history of heart problems. And another one had about 4 strokes in one year before, yet they both got into a hospital every time. Not every procedure is covered, there is the occaisional medical bill but rarely one that would break a family.

just because the gov't takes care of most of the healthcare in btoh countries is the only similarity. the benefits we get to answer your question meyer, are....well we can basically do anything we want economically as long as you have the money to spend.

If you get national health care the government decides who to treat. It is very simple if you actually consider it for a moment.

No, they don't. They decide who to treat by looking at who comes through the door. It is not, however, socialized medicine. We still need to buy our own medicine. This system does not mean less people get treated, it means more do, as there is rarely a question of 'can I afford it'.

Because private organizations deciding who to treat is really any different.

Let me be a bit more blunt so you'll understand:

You trust a private organization more than the government to "decide" whether or not you get treated?

(BTW with universal health care, there is no "deciding" since money is ruled irrelevant, everyone gets treated)

The government is not involved in the process, this isn't like a damn insurance claim. You walk into the damn hospital, and they do the best they can to treat you.

Now your private health insurance? They WILL refuse service, the government on the other hand can't.
