I voted it must be stopped. There should be an option where the people that hired them get in trouble with the law.

Most of the people that are hired though have legal work visas, they just never go back to Mexico or whereever

Illegal immigration is wrong. Ever had or heard of someone with a house not done properly, probably because the company who made your house hired the illegal aliens for cheap labor. I also think all U.S. citizens should learn english. There should be a 15-20 ft. wall across the borders.

i am against illegal immigration but it isnt an easy prob. to fix. i live in California in a rural area and there are tons of illegals working in my area. the reason is, is because californians are too lazy to go work in the fields themselves so they hire cheap labor. where can we find that much labor? solve that problem then we solve the immigrant problem

That's quite easy to get citizenship. I speak english. Where can I leave my application?

It's much to complex a problem to put specific things like that in the poll.

I voted to make it easier to immigrate.

That means more taxpayers, more people actually contributing to America. Illegal immigrants only immigrate illegally because it can be a difficult and lengthy process to become a citizen. Not because they want to "poison" America with their culture or take out jobs.

Making the path to citizenship will also make it easier to monitor who is coming in and out of the country, less people will be insistent on sneaking in.

The most depressing part of this, is that it is the business world which does not want to see this issue resolved, they enjoy the cheap, legally semi-non-existent employees.

Although, it should be easier to become a citizen you cannot excuse the illegals for it. If they want to live here then they should follow the laws that we make. Being an illegal is being a criminal. Junot's town is full of criminals and so is mine. If they are already criminals then what is to prevent them from doing other illegal things. Deporting them will not help they can just come back!

I disagree. All they have to do is go to Mexico City and get a passport. And we should deport them. But i am not a racist, i applaud all those who come legally.

The thing is, even if immigrants know the countries main language (I wonder if you learned Cherokee at any point in your life...) , they would rather use their own in most cases, unless they're talking to somebody who can't understand them. Illegal immigrants are criminals, yes, but they are criminals that are looking for a better life. They are only as likely to do another crime if it threatens their new-found "freedom" in most cases, just like anybody else... However there are many more things that can threaten their freedom.

immigrants should stay in the countries they are born. It isn't our fault their life ins't perfect. It isn't our fault they fight against each other in Africa and battle in Iraq and then there is Israel that fighs against every muslim nation it can.

But America was started by immigrants wanting a better life, i think it would be extremely hypocritical if we just slammed the door down

And its not easy to get citizenship, you have to have like $30,000 to get legally live in the US, and the reason most immigrants are here is because they dont have that in the first place

In most cases, Israel was attacked first by those countries, or had a serious threat against Israel.

This is perfectly on topic, we are discussing immigration and its subsequent consequences.

But to address the Israel issue, you would, I'm sure, resist a country if say France decided to put all of its Algerians in one of the most culturally significant places in your country and made it its own sovereign nation.

Don't forget the West created Israel after WWII cause there was no where else to put the Jews, except on muslim land, which at the time was all European Colonies.

i do not remember where i read it but i read an article, about mexican immigrants to california, and in most cases they are finding that whether they are illegal or not spanish is disappearing by the third generation. it comes out of a desire to fit into their new country.

personally i am all for immigration, as long as it is done legally. for example i would love to go live in Scotland.
