Here's one that occurred sometime last month:
The Imperial Remnant under Isard attacked my fleet of 2 dreadnaughts, 3 nebulons, 2 quasars, 1 x-wing squadron and 2 Golan IIs with Isard's SSD and two ISDs.
For some reason I never seem to luck out against a SSD, they are always pointed at my fleet and rip them apart, that's what was happening here. I lost a dreadnaught and a neb-b quickly and the other dreadnaught just lost its shields and was basically a goner. Then (it was like magic!) a large Pentastar raid fleet (somewhere around 1 praetor, 3 venators, 6 other ships) jumped in directly behind the SSD and beat the crap out of it while completely ignoring me. The SSD eventually blew up but not before I lost everything but my x-wing squad and my golans. The pentastar fleet was eventually taken out by the Golans (they didn't have anything larger then a venator because their praetor was taken out by the SSD.)
Oh, and I had no ion cannon.

I just lost Jerec to a Quasar in an auto-resolve...

What the hell happened? Did an X-Wing crash into the bridge and cause the Vengeance to accidently fly into a black hole?

My biggest complaint about Jerec is that he REFUSES to stay in a space fleet.  I have him in a space fleet, attack the planet, and he moves himself into the ground fleet at the end of the battle, even though I didn't drop him onto the planets surface.  So I go forward with the fleet, and discover that my strongest unit is now several Venators...ouchy.

So much this. But I've got to ask ,where does he park his ship when he's on the ground?

Hmmm...  Ok I'll say it.  Jerec's kind of a giant ass.  It's probably in there somewhere.  I never respected him as a villain.
Did you see that?  Know what that cost?  $58,000.  I mean, what a waste.  It wasn't even funny.  That's $58,000 that could have gone to curing leukemia.  Or.  muscular dystrophy.  Or... what does Michael J. Fox have?  That.  Alright, let's watch some damn cartoons.

Praetors have about the same pop as SSDs so I don't use them. Especially since their maneuvering is horrific. ISDs and an SSD gets the job done for me.

I'll use the occassional Praetor, mostly in defensive fleets.  I'm a big fan of having lots of Venators and ISD-II's.  Praetors IMO had far too much population for their abilities when compared to an Executor/Sovereign.  Nearly the same population but less than 1/4 of the hardpoints, destructible engines, etc.  Just not worth the population cost.  Hopefully that's changed in 2.1, either making their engines indistructible, or dropping their population.

That's exactly it. I'm just too lazy to type now.

The biggest pain in the ass is when you jump into a system with the intent of doing a hit-and-fade with a Super Star Destroyer only to find 10+ interdictors sat amongst their fleet

Try 40+.

I guess the AI was bored?  That almost sounds as bad as the hundreds of fleet commanders I had to systematically kill.

I just lost Jerec to a Quasar in an auto-resolve...

What the hell happened? Did an X-Wing crash into the bridge and cause the Vengeance to accidently fly into a black hole?

It was the little quasar that could!

Yeah, I've noticed Jerec has basically no autoresolve strength.

Ok, so. In "From the Ground up". I made the bad decision of not trying to take over any planets until i had built a sizable fleet (i was playing as NR) when suddenly, i was surrounded by the IR. So, i quickly took over New Cov, followed by Nal Hutta. At Nal Hutta...

I had one Assault Frigate, one Corona, and a boat load of E-Wings and X-Wings, fighting about ten Carracks, seven Lancers, a Venator, a few Victorys, and some MTCs (or whatever their called) with a Golan I defending my Ship Yard. Of course, i was being creamed, when suddenly. A raid fleet showed up behind them enemy consisting of one ISD, a Muunificent, and a bunch whatever the Interdictor like ships are called that don't have the Gravity Field Generators, as soon as they appeared, i had my fleet exit the fray and watch. Of course, the IR were being destroyed by the ISD, and after they had pretty much demolished each other, i sent my fleet back to finish them off. I ended up destroying the raid fleet, but lost by Assault Frigate and Corona in the process... But my E-Wings DESTROYED everything BUT the Lancers... So, i lost, but the IR had a hollow victory.
