Engine Lights and other stuff
« on: July 13, 2012, 12:18:14 PM »
Can you have the engine actually stop working after the hard point or the entire ship has been destroyed? It's because it appears to be strange to have the engine lights remain functioning even after the hard point or the entire ship has been destroyed. Also can you a shield boost ability to the venator because its shields are pretty weak and replace its current fighter compliment with clone war era fighter/bombers like the ARC-170, V-wing,torrent starfighter, and the jedi starfighter -_^ :HA:.

The engines are already supposed to do that, and in my experience all of them do do that. You mentioned the SSD in the chat, however the death clone for that is the stock game's (because that model is also from the stock game) so if it is the case that the engines are showing up for that, then no, it's not something we can do since I don't have the source file for it (it being a stock model from the original game) and my importer won't import that model correctly.

It's shields are comparable to other ships of its size and power, which is probably generous considering how old the ship itself is. That being said, 1.3 balancing is completely different from 2.0.

Why?

Reason for the fighter compliment replacement is because it makes more sense to tie up an old clone-war era star cruiser with  associated clone-war era fighters.

Respectfully disagree. The way the TR team has reworked capital ship starfighter complements to be different from the vanilla version is that all starfighter squadrons are replaced, brand new, with each new battle. That's good, makes for more fun battles, but it means that each fleet has quick and ready access to these replacements. No one would devote resources to build old outdated less powerful starfighters. Ship commanders would instead gladly accept new more modern ships coming off the production lines.
"That's not what the Empire would have done, Commander. What the Empire would have done was build a super-colossal Yuuzhan Vong-killing battle machine. They would have called it the Nova Colossus or the Galaxy Destructor or the Nostril of Palpatine or something equally grandiose. They would have spent billions of credits, employed thousands of contractors and subcontractors, and equipped it with the latest in death-dealing technology. And you know what would have happened? It wouldn't have worked. They'd forget to bolt down a metal plate over an access hatch leading to the main reactors, or some other mistake, and a hotshot enemy pilot would drop a bomb down there and blow the whole thing up. Now that's what the Empire would have done."

That's how vanilla worked as well. Perpetual damage has never been possible in vanilla EaW.

As far as the complements go, while the ships remained in servive there's never been any indication that the starfighters did, and for several (ie the Eta-2 aqnd Delta-7) they would definitely not have continued. Just because the Venator and Acclamator were used in the Clone Wars doesn't mean they kept their old fighters. The Victory-class also started service in the Clone Wars, as did the Carrack, the Dreadnaught started service over a decade before the Clone Wars, etc. It would kind of be a waste of time to do them. It'd be a lot of work to make all the art assets for units that we have nno reason to believe would have been used for a faction that already has ample diversity in its fighters, almost all of which perform better than the Clone Wars equivalents that you're suggesting.
