The Chiss Ascendancy
« on: March 24, 2012, 06:36:11 AM »
I've always wanted the Chiss icnluded in the mod since the Empire has the Warlords as a minor faction with their units and the Chiss could be a minor faction easily with the units of the Empire of tha Hand. It would make the Empire of the Hand able to be more divided and have to take over area in the Un known regions instead of just being able to expand wherever it wants to and there could even be a Galactic Conquests with the Empire of the Hand, Chiss and Ssi-Ruuks.

Canonically this just makes no sense. The EtoH drew its troops from the Chiss Ascendancy and were, if not allies, at least friendly and neutral towards each other. To have them fight would seem just...wrong.

I don't think the EtoH need another minor faction to battle. In the new Galactic map layout they'll have to contend with the Yevethan and the cluster, which should provide them with room to expand before challenging the IR and NR. If anything I'd ask for the EtoH to have a more direct line with the IR on the Art of War maps, perhaps something like the Empires at War map, where Yaga Minor and Bastion aren't far from EtoH territory.
"That's not what the Empire would have done, Commander. What the Empire would have done was build a super-colossal Yuuzhan Vong-killing battle machine. They would have called it the Nova Colossus or the Galaxy Destructor or the Nostril of Palpatine or something equally grandiose. They would have spent billions of credits, employed thousands of contractors and subcontractors, and equipped it with the latest in death-dealing technology. And you know what would have happened? It wouldn't have worked. They'd forget to bolt down a metal plate over an access hatch leading to the main reactors, or some other mistake, and a hotshot enemy pilot would drop a bomb down there and blow the whole thing up. Now that's what the Empire would have done."

The same could be said for the EotH vs either of the other two main factions. Canonically the EotH didn't have anything to do with the Imperial Remnant or New Republic until during/after the Caamas Crisis when Luke/Mara discovered its existence.  Not to mention that Thrawn originally modelled the EotH on the Empire (and later took charge of it) - why would they fight that which Thrawn believed in?

So instead we could have the IR and EotH team up to restore order to the chaos the corrupt NR brought to the galaxy...

The Empire of the Hand was only as connected to the Empire as it was to the Chiss, probably a bit less. Certainly after Thrawn died. They actually did end up fighting some Imperials because of Jag, and they never helped against the New Republic. In fact, they were essentially aligned with the New Republic before the Remnant was in the Vong War IIRC.

Also, the Warlords wouldn't all be one distinct group, but for gameplay purposes we had to combine a bunch of different groups into one. Same kind of thing goes for the Hapans and New Republic, but in reverse; they were basically aligned, but they were still two distinct political entities, so in the mod they can kill each other. That's just how things have to work in a game thay has no diplomacy.
