not to mention that imperial forces were attacked from multiple directions and there was confusion after the death of Thrawn.

numbers can be decisive. In WWII Germany lost because aliies and Soviet union had much more tanks, airplanes and simply men to put to action.

numbers are important. Numbers are more important in a battle than Quality. But not everything.

it depends, in some situations quantity is preferable to quality - for example if the droid army on Naboo in EpI had been comprised exclusively of the higher quality Droideka's (albeit in much smaller numbers), the outcome would have been considerably different.  Whereas in the case of the Clone's executing Order 66, the quantity of clones against the quality of the Jedi won the day.

But even the droidekas would have been shut down after the destruction of the command ship.

i thought Droideka's could operate independently from a central computer ?

EDIT: before Naboo it was the norm for them to operate from a central computer, but after that debacle it was considered better to have then controlled independently.

But the point is, if they had Droideka's instead of the normal battle droids on Naboo, the Jedi Qui Gon and Obi Wan wouldnt have been able to rescue Queen Amidala, or release the pilots for the N1 fighters, in order to effect the eventual victory.

maybe, but if it were that easy wouldnt they have done so when they were outside the bridge on the control ship ?

its well documented that many Jedi fled from Droideka's

Maybe shipyard warfare isnt Thrawn's thing, at Sluis Van, his plot with the miners is foiled and at Bilbringi he gets stabbed
