This is too big a list for a poll. so just state your favourite capital ship and why.
My favourite is the Sith Interdictor Cruiser, because I love KOTOR. It looks cool as well.
-
Hmmmm I like the Eclipse. but it certainly has it's weaknesses(big target, slow, blown up by it's owner). I think that i would go with the Imperial Star Destroyer. It inspired fear anywhere it went, could be mass produced and just looks damn cool. It may be boring but hey. Second, the New Republic Star Destroyer, because, you know, it's awesome.
-
I'll say either Imperial Star Destroyer or Venator Star Destroyer. both are good.
-
The Venator. when i saw Petro's Venator model in that campaign mission with the ZC my heart sunk at how bad
Petro made it. 2 lasers, 2 concs, 2 ion cannons. a disgrace.
-
The Venator Star Destroyer. It looks awesome, particularly in the red livery. Didnt the ISD have something like 28,000 design flaws?
-
some rebel technician said so. but I doubt it is that high. It would be stupid to mass produce a ship design with that many flaws.
-
isn't that a pretty dumb thing for a reb technician to say? then mon cals will underestiate them and get annihilated by thinking they are flawed ships. pretty bad propaganda. you don't want the armies to act less efficiently.
-
Oh, apparently the Alliance technician said it had 174,000 flaws.
Considering their huge size and complexity, i think its quite feasible for them to have that many flaws. I mean, they dont have to be huge flaws like the DSI exhaust port - It could just be tiny flaws in circuit design.
-
I guess the Empire didn't flawless ships. They had a huge supply of credits, and if one ISD was destroyed, it was no big deal. They could just build another two in it's place. However, that the first Death Star had such a flaw...
-
174,000 flaws! those has to be small ones. otherwise the ship would be quite useless. Ship that is 1600 meters long that would mean 1 flaw per 0,0092 meters. I wonder why they were never corrected? they sure had time. Or maybe that flaw number is for the first ISDs produced and then corrected in later models.
-
out of question, what were ISDs called under the new republic? were they Imperators, again?
-
guess. I haven't heard that their name would be changed at some point.
-
I think they were still called Imperial Star Destroyers.
-
Yea ISD's have been made more and more advanced as time goes on, but they are still called star destroyers.
-
I have to say either ISDs or MC90s.
-
My favourite by far is the Venator. When Revenge of the Sith starts (the movie of course) and you see the two fighters flying over it; I went nuts at how good it looked.
-
huh i just watched that movie today,(it was on spike tv) and i noticed how good it looked. i agree, however im sure if star destroyers were in episode 3, they would have looked really cool too.
-
It seems that Venator is quite popular.
-
well in terms of firepower the venator wasnt that great, and it really isnt all that amazing. i think most people like it becase it was in revenge of the sith, where all the special effects looked amazing.
-
I also like it's looks. and don't mean that it looks so real with effects but just the shape and all. and the amount of fighters it can carry it is a formidable opponent.
-
tbh, the venator is powerful. third to the mon cal and ISD (or at least it should be)
at 1,137 metres, it's the largest ship that could operate in atmospheres, not counting vong ships like the Miid roik
-
I was under the impression that the Venator was phased out for the more powerful Victory Star Destroyers, (at least the MkI of which was also capable of atmospheric flight)?
-
but victory-class was shorter than venator. and venator ain't the largest ship capable of atmospheric flight. it's one of the largest.
-
yea an ISD is atmo capable as well
-
i believe the venator and the victory were almost exactly the same in terms of firepower. venator had more fighters though
-
Yeah, I personally love the Venator because of how good it looks in general, not just because of the special effects. It's a colourful ship, but the ISD isn't; that's why I prefer the Venator.
-
vomng ships were the largest capable of atmospherc flight, right?
either that or the lucrehulk.
-
all clonewars craft were atmo capable
-
vomng ships were the largest capable of atmospherc flight, right?
either that or the lucrehulk.
only part of the lucrehulk that was capable of landing was the core ball. and that ain't big.
-
are you kidding me a core can hold an entire planetary invasion force
-
It probably could if it werent so piled up with junk. ;)
-
it could store lots of droids. and the core part is some 800 meters wide and tall and everything. as it's an orb.
-
I was joking; I'm feeling up for humor today. You dont have to remind me of the scene in Phantom Menace when they are loading up the droid invasion force.
-
if you look at how they pack droids in an MTT, it's underatandable. and the lucrehulk is giver an atmospheric speed (battleship, not core ship)
-
I know that; read my previous post.
-
core ship is part of the lucrehulk
-
I always seem to keep coming back to the Star Destroyers. The Nebula-class and the Pelleaon-class lately have pulled me. As far as what we have now in game, ImpStar Deuce.
-
I would have to say the Executor-Class would be my favorite, even though it was taken out by an Awing if I am not mistaken.
-
Sure Arvel Crynyd crashed his A-wing into the main bridge which gave the ship enough time to fall into the DS II's surface (damn gravitational pull) but I rank that up to the level of someone tossing a rock at someone, them being struck, and in a slight daze falling off a bridge. Sure they are related, but did you throwing the rock end up killing the guy? Some times horrid luck just eats you up...
-
Only negative I have to the Executor was the fact that it was disabled( and ultimately destroyed) by said stone to the giant. For the thousands of weapon placements, its ultimate demise came at the hands of a snub fighter, which sounds very similar to another super weapon...
-

not really. the executor's systems all went offline when its commad deck was destroyed. yes, it was more formidable than was granted of it, but the A wing did destroy it.
-
but had DS II not been there it propably would have survived that a-wing strike. but unfortunetantly DS II was there.
-
not really. the executor's systems all went offline when its commad deck was destroyed. yes, it was more formidable than was granted of it, but the A wing did destroy it.
Its systems did not all go offline, only navigation was disabled due to downtime to transfer command to auxilary systems.
-
well, it's not comparable to being ht by a rock and falling off a bridge.
if the DS2 was noot there, it would crash into Endor.
-
Maybe, but it would have taken longer to reach the Forest Moon. The systems would be transferred by then.
-
yeah, it and the death star II were extremely close considering the size of both weapons. and endor was pretty far away, normally just destroying the bridge wouldnt destroy the entire ship, like previously stated. the executer just had some shitty luck : )
-
i wouldn't call a deathstar a capital ship. more of a battlestation
-
:/ No-one has called either Death Star a Capital Ship..
-
He speaks truth; I did not sight any comment pertaining to 'Death Star' and 'Capital Ship'.
-
people are saying they like it as a cap ship tho
-
it should go under superweapon, hey! i'll make a your favarite superweapon poll
-
people are saying they like it as a cap ship tho
No, they were discussing the destruction of the Executor (a capital ship) and the effect the Second Death Star's presence had upon it.
-
sorry i've been a bit off lately i just quit smoking
-
sorry i've been a bit off lately i just quit smoking
And how is that related to capital ships? ??? ???

he was justifying a comment he made.
-
its why i have been screwed up. without the nicotine and thc in my system i can't think straight because i was an addict. im starting to clear up though and i got to say i feel great. for any other addicts on this website. i highly recommend quiting.
-
I highly recommend never starting.
-
well said pelleaon
-
I highly recommend never starting.
Must agree
My favorite would have to be the hapan battle dragon.
-
i like the hapan battle cruiser myself out of the hapan ships. and i made some bad calls. and i have a bad family life.
-
Guys, can we stay on topic please.
-
mines got to be the Acclamator
-
mines got to be the Acclamator
s the acclamator caital/
i mean, some sources call the marauder cruiser a capital ship, bt is it?
has to go to venator for me.
-
clone war ships are kinda boring.
i think i may change mine to pelleaon-class, or advanced SD class(even better)
scythe class is cool to though. it's small but still badass.
-
I would choose Executor, no matter what happened to him :D Biggest ship in original movies and that counts ;)
-
Ventor all the way.
-
I assume you mean Venator
-
what is so cool about the venator.
-
It's dual bridge design is cool. And also the overall shape is great.
-
looks like an arrow head id dig up in my yard.
Mines gots to be the hapan battle dragon or the alderinan war cruiser
-
I guess we all will have to think it over after we will see the EotH capital ships ;)
-
*cough* we've pretty much already seen the Eoth capital ships.
-
It's dual bridge design is cool. And also the overall shape is great.
not to menton how powerful it .
-
yes. I bet that Venator could beat ISD easily.
-
yes. I bet that Venator could beat ISD easily.
Are you kidding? The Venator was replaced by star destroyers like the ISD and the Victory, why would the Venator be replaced by the ISD if the ISD wasn't as good?
-
yeah it's not the venator was just super good. even the victory and acclamator carried into the GCW, but not the venator. It was like half the size of an ISD.
-
ISD: 1600m long
Venator: 1137 meters
not so much smaller don't you think? besides I never said that ISD wasn't good. but sometimes one ISD lost to fairly small number of rebel starfighters. and Venator carried massive numbers of starfighters. that added to it's own impressive firepower makes it deadly and capable of taking down an ISD.
and actually Victory came to service together with Venator. so it didn't replace it.
-
i won sday the venator didn't become obsolete. it was overshadowed by Victory-II and ISDs, and becae less shown however, i think the main reason it wasn't seen in theGCW as that Lucas hadn't invented the venator by thete of the OT.
-
*cough* we've pretty much already seen the Eoth capital ships.
Ye but mostly design, shape etc. I prefer to see them and use them in game by myself and then i may reconsider what is my favourite capital ship ;)
-
I think that it's hard to compare them to other ships. those EotH ships are made for this mod only and not really canon. you don't see them anywhere else.
-

Then We will make them canon, cause they are awesome!
-
Then We will make them canon, cause they are awesome!
EXACTLY!
Btw: is it possible that at least some parts of mod became canon? Highly doubt about it, but it would be amazing!
-
It's dual bridge design is cool. And also the overall shape is great.
personally i thought that the dual bridge design was a horrible idea. it blocks effeciant communication but at the same time they are too close together for 1 to take over if the other was destroyed because it is more likely both would be destroyed
-
Well, one was the command tower for the hangar if i remember right, so they both serve different purposes
-

No, unless an author or official game adopted it. The 501st started as a charity organization that Timothy Zahn included in Survivor's Quest. However, some of our EotH ships DID somehow end up on wikipedia, but I removed them.
Anyways, I like the Providence.
-
Zahn invented 501st?
2 topic: Thats always problem putting something in universe when its not bringing any profit. May you should let ur ships on wiki. Could be first illegal step to have some canon Chiss things. ;)
-
First of all Lucasarts and other SW companies would never adopt something into being canon if it wasn't their idea or if they couldn't buy it. Taking something for free has to many possibilities that would make for loss instead of profit. Since the Team cannot sell it, the chance is close to null. Secondly, I think Arbiter doesn't want his stuff on Wiki because he wants to be able to manage where all his info and stuff is, just so he can know where his stuff is. Thirdly, their is no "illegal" canon. If the stuff in question were "illegal" canon it wouldn't be canon, because all canon must be "legal" or it wouldn't be canon; the phrase is an oxymoron.
-
Word illegal belonged to process how can(don't take me at word...) TR (or parts of them) became canon. Just became to well-known that everyone would believe its canon. Thru any wiki, wookie etc...
But it was just a joke!
Anyhow it makes me sad when i sometimes see what is allready canon...
-
A lot of fanon stuff is in Star Wars. The pilot from Pink Five was in Allegiance, The 501st Legion was named after the charity organization, the Hand of Judgement was a fan suggestion, Piett was only in RotJ because of begging...
Anyways, the mod will never be canon, back on topic.
-
I'd go with providence or venator
-
I'd go with the carrack. Gotta love a light cruiser that can match speed with an X-wing ;)
By the way sry to talk about something so far back in the topic but executor class ships are also capable of atmospheric flight. And they dwarf venators for sure ;D
-

the lusankya can't fly in an atmosphere horizontally.
it was able to fly out vertically. there is no proof that an executor can fly horizontally.
-
But it can fly in atmosphere............ so owned!!!!
-
It can't fly in atmosphere.....
-
But it can fly in atmosphere............ so owned!!!!
not horizontally. it can vertically fly upwards out of the atmospherre.
by that logic, if a SD crashes into a planet, it too can fly in atmospheres.
-
Yeah, we agree on something for once vadereclipse.
-
The Lusankya only "flew" in atmosphere with the help of a specially designed lift cradle, which had to be jettisoned for it to operate properly. I wouldnt call that atmospheric flight.
-
Yeah, we agree on something for once vadereclipse.
i was saying it can't sustainably fly.
any supership could if you had a cradle, as slornie said.
-
that's close enough.
-
i all so like the Advanced Star Destroyer and the Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer
-
What's the Pellaeon-class from?
-
What's the Pellaeon-class from?
The Pellaeon class is the legacy star destroyer it is a littlebit Lager then the isd Its carriing Predator Fighters
Here a http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pellaeon-class_Star_Destroyer (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pellaeon-class_Star_Destroyer)
My favorite capital ship is the eclipse a nice ship with a cool superlaser ;D
-
My favorite ship would probably have to be the Republic-class Star Destroyer....just as strong as an ISD but smaller and more compact not to mention it looks sweet.
-
I go with the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. but that not on topic so i have to go with the Vengeance-class( not sure on the name) ITs the one used by the Sith....... it looks like the Executor but has wings on the sides.
-
If we exclude SSDs and uber ships....
*pulls a strange grey slab of something out from behind his back*
The MC90! The scourge of ISD MKIIs!
-
For me its the Dragon-class.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon-class_heavy_cruiser
Spread fear throughout the galaxy!
-
Venator is cool. It's a carrier-battleship hybrid.
-
a Venator Class Star Destroyer ftw
-
the malevonice. It is very stealthy because of its ion cannon! but it isnt very colorful and not as sucessful (hm).
-
The star destyroyer ;D
-
Old Republic cool red Venators :P
-
ISD-II gotta be, got some manurerability and is very powerful. Although the Mon Calamari cruiser is also a favourite
-
Would have to be a close tie between the Venator and the ISD, Venator would win though. The design is appealing, and being a sort of all-purpose vessel, its many functions are cool.
-
i like the Viscount-class Star Defender
-
can a person actually have one favorite capital ship...c'mon they are all awesome (big and full of big guns that do big damage)
but if i had to pick...uuuum probably the ISD probably cause im more of a empire fan
-
ok i would have to say my favorite would be the Turbulent-class Star Destroyer. because its shorter then an ISD and i think its awsome
-
Im going to have to go with the basic ISD. its powerful and in mass production. it really can't be beat in large numbers. It is kinda like the ak-47 of the starwars universe
-

Lol. good simile.
Capital ship: MC90. In terms of firepower, armor, and shields, it is pretty much the apex
Supercapital: Viscount. Same firepower as SSD, with better shields and armor
Ubersupercapital: Eclipse. End of story.
Moon thingy: Death Star
-
In terms of firepower, my favorite is the Hapan Battle dragon. (Rotating weapons FTW)
In terms of awesomeness my favorite is the ExecutorEclipse.
-
Gotta love the lucrehulk, the space donut =D
-
My favorate is the Eclipse 2 I mean with everything in it it's basicly a moving planet!!!
Palpatine should have not been so careless to have it by his dam galaxy gun I mean that ship is to expensive where it should have simply been just a different SSD to protect it.
Joe
-
I'd have to say the ISD. It's just so awesome, and I mean the true definition of awesome. It's shear power and size alone is enough to strike awe into most anyone, even the Vong were impressed when they first saw one.
Earlier in the thread there was a lot of discussion about the Venator, and some were saying that they wondered why it was replaced because many feel it was really good. Someone made the comment that they loved it because it held so many fighters, and hold a lot of fighters it did, 192, and that may be why it was replaced. The ISD only holds 72 fighter sized craft, while the Executor holds 144. The VSD is almost 500 hundred meters shorter than the ISD, the amount of room that must of been used to hold all those fighters in a ship of that size may have caused it to be structurally unsound. Maybe it couldn't hold up against large turbolasers.
-
Not much can stand up to large turbolasers, when the shields are gone, but weaker shields could also have been the problem.
Or perhaps the Empire just wanted to move completely away from the Old Republic.
-
Pellaeon-class star destroyer.
-
The Springhawk is the best!
-
The answer I think is (about the venitor issue) ah Lucas didn't even create the ship when he was working on the orriginal trilogy but it would be cool to read a book where somehow some group gets one of the Venitors and modify it to being better than a ISD I would be cool to see those ships going at it!!!
Joe
-
Gotta say either a Executor Star Dreadnought or a ISD II, idk I like all star destroyer ships that were somehwat earlier in the time period, not anything before the ISD I, no venators, no sith battle cruiser, exc, i'd say up to the tector unless the bloodfin also had the command tower and design of the ISD, my favorite part is the command tower, no doubt at all.
-
Well i would have to Say the Hapes Battle Dragon and the Imperious-class Star Destroyer
-
Pellaeon SD class
-
Class I ISD and Victory Class II SD for me. I love the improvements made to the Victory Class. As for the Class I ISDs, symbolic to the word Galactic Empire.
-
The Super Star Destroyer Executor class.
-
Mon Cals always seem to grab my attention. They are so unique compared to their Imperial counterparts.
-
Venator's my favorite, though i think the novels make an error in classifying frigates as capital. I've seen it in a lot of sources where they classify small vessels to be the same caliber as an imperial I.
-
mine would have to be a sovereign class
-
Pellaeon SD class
That's mine also.
-
Id have to say my favorite ship of all time is the strike cruiser, but this is capital ships so id sayy either the VSD 2 or the venator
-
This

-
Imperial II-class Star Destroyer.
-
After seeing the pics for the Praetor II, I'm changing my favorite to that.
-
After seeing the pics for the Praetor II, I'm changing my favorite to that.
I know what ya mean, with all the new ships introduced and expounded on in The Essential Guide to Warfare, my favorite ship, the ISD, is getting some competition; The Bellator-class dreadnought sure does look sexy. =D
-
I love the ISD II, the Praetor, and the Bellator. The ISD II has been in service so long (50 or so years), and it still is a formidable ship. The Praetor and Bellator are just really cool ships.
P.S.: any chance we may see a Bellator in the mod sometime?
-
I wouldn't overly count on it. With the fact that it's even LARGER than the Praetor-II, I doubt they'll be adding it. Doubly so since other than it's size, name, and what it looks like, there's like no canon information I can find about it.
I wouldn't mind seeing it simply because of the fact that it is specifically noted as serving both the Empire and the New Republic.
-
my favorite is the Executer- Class Super Star Destroyer. look at it. thats all the explaining required.
-
It would have to be either the Subjagator or the Bellator class. Both are awesome ships.
-
My favorite one is the executor class but the Knight Hammer most, I love the stealth painting it makes it look even cooler and powerfull
-
For me it's the underrated Vengeance-Class Star Dreadnought from Dark Forces II
(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/d/db/Vengeanceabove.jpg)
A thing of beauty.
But I do have a soft spot for the old Executor and the sheer insanity of the Eclipse.
-
1st: Assault frigate (not sure why?)
2nd: Eclipse (because it's insanly powerful)
3rd: Acclamator (again not so sure why?)
-

Nice
-
I've never been a fan of the Executor. Ugly IMO. Much prefer the Vengeance, or the Eclipse or Sovereign. I really like the Sovereign SSD's. A little slower, less powerful, and smaller than the Eclipse, but still insanely powerful and of course, that superlaser...
-
The Sovereigns and Eclipse were very good designs for firepower, fighter carrier, Interdictor and superlaser. They were truly inventive designs.
-
I like alle Imperial Star Destroyers, (ISD I + II, Tektor)
But i think my favorit would be the Praetor
-
The original Imperial-class Star Destroyer is a thing of beauty but the best capital ship for my money has to be the Super Star Destroyer, it just looks so awesome, it even looks good in Lego
-
I like the Praetor II, prolly because of its funny design
