You should add the 501st for thrawn because he reconstituted them.
-
From the first page of this thread (http://gutr.swrebellion.com/forums/index.php/topic,1575.msg28947.html#msg28947):
The 501st more or less died out after Endor. Thrawn restarted them in the Empire of the Hand, but in the Imperial remnant they were done. The Aurek Seven hero squad in the Empire of the Hand is part of the Empire of the Hand's 501st, actually.
The 501st is also covered in another thread (http://gutr.swrebellion.com/forums/index.php/topic,1894.0.html).
-
er sorry
-
can't remeber if this has already been suggested but how about giving the empire regular army troopers and making the stormtroopers elite infantry.
-
I know this thread is titularly for Imperial unit suggestions, but having just read Crisis of Faith (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Crisis_of_Faith) i would like to mention the newly described (but unimaginatively named) EotH vehicle.
From page 444 in my copy of Heir to the Empire 20th Anniversary Edition:
The A-rack was a simple device, one that Lhagva was told had been adopted from one of Thrawn's other liberated worlds. It looked very much like an A-frame, fold-up clothing roller of the type he'd seen been pushed or pulled along busy walkways back in his own home city's garment district. The A-rack, though, was much sturdier than those, with oversized wheels, a top-mounted E-Web/M heavy repeating blaster, a center-mounted engine, and enough room on each side for five stormtroopers to stand facing outward. With the pair of cramped seats in the center section for the driver and gunner, the carrier could transport a full stormtrooper squad quickly and efficiently across medium-rough terrain.

Greetings,
I have a few suggestions for units in 1.3.
Wraith Squadron as a TIE/X Wing with Corvette in space, and commando application on land.
Crimson Command VSDs/ speed of VSDII with more firepower than VSDII but less armor than VSD(only buildable in Daala's era)
Unlimited Golans
Zsinj's Raptor Spec forces/ similar to NR Infiltrators with sniper rifle and thermal det.
Dark Jedi/ build able on Byss only in Palpatines era to counter NR Jedi
Royal guard/ build able on Byss or coruscant during Palpatine or Daalas era
More Thrustships for the yevetha
Imperial intelligence commandos/ Similar to NR infitrators and with the capability to be stealth fleet to land on planets and wreak havoc
Admiral Delak Krennal and ISDII Reckoning/ In isards Era
Cloaking ability for the Chimaera in Caamas Crisis
The false 181st for Zsinj in his scenario
Hand of Judgement for EotH again
Smugglers for Zsinj(to simulate his businesses behind enemy lines which were so crucial to his power
Ysalimiri Stormtroopers for Thrawn in his era(elite stormtroopers with ysalimiri on them to nullify Jedi abilities and thus make them vulnerable to infantry.(this was kind of a major theme in the novels and would force players of the NR to use strategy instead of Jedi one man slaughter fest)
Could Bastion's population be LOYAL to the Empire(I know the map for correllia was re used for Bastion but as the Empire's last capital it's kind of important for the population to be on their side, Especially in the Caamas crisis level!)
Anyway that's some of my suggestions, I understand you all do this mod in your spare time and still have busy schedules, so I appreciate all the hard work you put in to it. It is a work of art. Thanks again.
-
Only thing I can see that is missing is the Scimitar assault bomber. The Empire of the Hand has it but the Imperial Remnant doesn't, makes no sense considering it was designed during Thrawn's campaign for the Imperial Remnant.
Also I feel there needs to be some "true" cruisers between the ISD and the ESD. Having no ships between a destroyer that is 1.6 kilometers to a dreadnought that is 17.6 kilometers+ is a little ridiculous. Of course the only problem is there is really no good references to ships between 5 to 13 kilometers out there, so I guess it's as good as it gets.
I was just reading this and it reminded me of phoenix rising. they used praetor class battlecrusers which are slightly larger than star destroyers and to even it out gave the NR some big mon cal ship. (they also put in bulwarks to match ssds but i didnt like that)
-
I think we've covered this in a few places before, but we avoid doing that because for one the designs are typically fanon, which means we'd have to make up our own, and also the superships are supposed to be special, not common. If it had the same sliding scale leading up to it, it's kind of pointless. Also, EaW doesn't handle larger ships especially well, and we're not especially fond of them. Honestly I wouldn't have any ship bigger than the Phalanx in the mod if it were up to me, but then people would complain and ask why there's no SSDs.
-
You pretty much covered it in the second part of this post. If there were any good candidates we might use them, but as it is, there aren't, and it kind of defeats the purpose of having the SSDs in a"super" units, as Scarecrow said.
What about praetor battle cruisers? it would be nice to just have some more variety
Fixed quote ~ Slornie
-
The first problem with the Praetor-class is that there are no canon sources to base it on. While we have people more than capable of designing something suitable (and being pre-Empire in origin it wouldn't even have to adhere to the space triangle philosophy) we try to stick with canon material where possible.
Second, the class was outdated long before the Galactic Civil War and only ever saw limited service in the Imperial navy. What added benefit would the Praetor provide other than being another unit that people won't use: bigger, weaker, slower and more expensive than an Imperial II Star Destroyer?
-
just wondering would it be possible to make Fels unit larger to represent the 3 squadrons that made up the 181st fighter group?
-
I seem to remember trying something similar in the past and it not functioning properly, but I can try again. The only problem there is that you'd end up with Soontir Fel's icon up in the corner 3 times and we'd get inundated with bug reports about another non-bug.
Welcome back to the posting world, by the way. It's good to see some of the older community is still around.
-
I have two unit suggestions one of which im quite surprised has not bee added or at least talked about already, The bayonet-class light cruiser has always been a cool ship to me, and it would make the empires frigate selection a little more diverse. I even found info about it and it has all its technical specifications. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bayonet-class_light_cruiser
My other unit suggestion is to add the guardian class light cruiser for the empire. I thought id be cool to have small ships like that for anti fighter duties, but instead of making them like frigates make them like han solo and chewbacca but worse. i found info for this too :P http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Guardian-class_light_cruiser
I would be SUPER happy and thankful if you guys would add these ships
-
Well, the problem with the Remnant is hardly diversity; the build bar is completely full, so any space units we add basically mean either cutting another one or giving it to one leader and not the rest.
As far as the Bayonet goes, the specs are there but there's no official design. There's a single fanon one that goes around a lot (if I had to guess I'd say it were EvilleJedi's), but we don't have permission to use it, and I'm not entirely fond of it.
For the Guardian, it's a possilbility for the leaders who preferred smaller craft (Thrawn, Pellaeon) but I'm not sure if we'll do it.
-
Hello people i m new, i ve been reading all the suggestions about creating a new unit for the imperials. I have a proposition, why don t you create stormtroopers that can fly, like jumptroopers in the Force Unleashed. I think that would be awesome, i don t know if some of you agree with me.
See you all later
Sorry for my english, pretty bad, it s because i m spaniard. :)
-
That would be cool
-
Praetor or Allegiance class. Basically something along the lines of bigger than an ISD or Tector, but smaller than the executor or sovereign class.
-
Greetings to everybody in the forum!
I think the Imperials are desperately in need for a LAAT gunship. Several mods has it and it'd perfectly solve the Imperials lack of air unit problem which they have due to the overpowered MPTL spam the AI does( no ground unit can stand against the MPTL spam). It opens up a lot of new strategies, and also makes the battles more realistic( ground forces without air support?).
That or ground usable Tie fighters.
I wouldn't change much with the fleet as it seems fine.
-
We still have our own LAAT from our Fall of the Republic minimod, but we have other plans for it. As we've said in other threads, the reason we don't currently have air units is about targeting, though. We know there are several canon air vehicles.
-
Hows about the AT-MV,I think it was called.
It was used by Daala when she tried to kidnap the Solo children I think, invented by the governor of Carada.
The All Terrain Mountain Vehicle maybe?
Ahh here it is.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mountain_Terrain_Armored_Transport (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mountain_Terrain_Armored_Transport)
-
Daala didn't try to kidnap the Solo kids, that was the Caridian Ambassador(something about making a new Darth vader or some other hare brained plan)
Also what would be the point of this vehicle? All the mountains in the game are impassable anyway it would be very difficult to code something that could go over them when they are inaccessible to every other unit.
most of the maps are flat ground with small separation of valleys or hills so something designed to go vertically up cliffs might be a bit unnecessary. Also they were never mass produced, the few prototypes that were created were destroyed in the attempted kidnapping and any designs or designers were destroyed with either the orbiting dreadnaught or the planet Caridia.
-
Not to mention that finding someone able to animate that eight-legged monstrosity would be tricky!
-
The main issue I would have with this unit is the amount of path-finding issues it would have due to it's size. It would have immense issues navigating some areas of some maps. As well even if it was made to be able to travel over steep terrain, it's a pretty unfair advantage to have a fairly powerful unit that could just walk into the defender's base.
It would also be a pain to animate.
-
....Would look cool though...
Any way to stop the rebels love with turbolasers. Why do they build several on one map? It makes no difference over just one?
Oh and perhaps when buying the crimson VSDs you should get maybe three of them after the one purchase. Or allow the player to build more than the one, like a unit limit of 3.
-
Looks like a giant spider that would take waaaaaaaaay too much effort to make as well as waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much effort to edit all the land maps to actually make sure it could be used. (In summary, I don't plan on editing ~70 maps for one unit).
The number of turbolasers on a map is based on the number of markers on the map. The number of turbolasers vary from map to map, some have barely any, some have quite a few. They can only be built once but the resulting number varies with the number of the markers on the map.

The limit is actually around 15, but you need to build them (1) with Cronus there and (2) on a heavy frigate shipyard.

1. AT-MTs (the "spider walkers") are within "Alliance" Mod (by Nomada_Firefox). Looks quite pretty and can be useful in some places, but is not a "super-unit".
2. What I'd like to see is TIE-Predator and Pellaeon & Imperious-classes Star Destroyers/Star Battlecruisers (from Legacy era). Pellaeon SD (with TIE-Predators) were made in Absolute Corruption mod; in the same mod were also "Pellaeon-II" BCs, but these wer not similar to Imperious , as being only re-sized Pellaeons (the "real" Imperious was not only bigger but also had re-arranged rear end, as could be visible on Galactic Alliance Admiral Gar Stazi's flagship "Alliance" - stolen at Mon Calamari shipyard).

The Legacy Era took place about 80 years after the mod ends. That's way too far outside of the timeline of the mod.
-
Another problem with MT-AT (Mountain Terrain Armored Transport), is that they were only used once, that we know of. Also Wookieepedia has this to say
"All but one of the vehicles were destroyed during the kidnapping attempt, thanks to sturdy Alliance defenses. Combined with the destruction of the Carida system, the plans for the design may have been lost."
As unit suggestions go I was thinking of the Swift Assault 5 Hoverscout, personally I feel it could replace the QH-7 Chariot as a reconnaissance vehicle, because it doesn't make sense to me to use a command vehicle as a front line recon, and the Hoverscout is better armed.
As for space the Gladiator-class Star Destroyer seems pretty cool, with a better straightener complement then a Dreadnought and a much smaller crew, it could be a nice cheap frigate that could hold its own against most any small threat. But of course there are so many ships already and the Gladiator may just be another one that fills the same purpose as others.
Also how about the Tector-class Star Destroyer?
-
Also how about the Tector-class Star Destroyer?
The Tector was already in 1.2 and 1.3
-
lol, well I feel silly, I guess this is what happens when you take a long hiatus. I guess I didn't think it was in the game because it wasn't on the unit list on the IR faction page, and I hadn't noticed it in game, but I see it now ;D
-
How about some of the stuff from the Maw in the Kevin J Anderson books that introduce Daala. The Sun Crusher and the prototype Death Star would be fun. In fact any of the Empire's expanded universe super weapons would be fun. The Emperor could use some World Devastators or the Galaxy Gun. And maybe to keep in line with the Sun Crusher Daala could instead have her regular Star Destroyer the Gorgon instead of the Knight Hammer.
-
1) Having a World Devastator would be interesting, perhaps using Rom Mohc's unit ability from the base game. Build a WD and place it in whichever system you want for cheaper over-all production of units and give you the ability to produce things like TIE droid fighters.
2) To reiterate what someone mentioned earlier: have regular Imperial army units, with stormtroopers being a stronger elite unit.
3) Allegiance-class Star Destroyer added to whatever era that Palpatine Clone comes back.
4) A new GC map where you play as one of the warlords. A map consisting of solely the Pentastar Alignment, Zsinj Empire, and Zero Command as the main factions, with the NR and other lesser warlords functioning as non-aligned or NPCs. This way you have a map that can truly be called "Imperial Civil War" because its fought predominantly between the rival Imperial factions. This would also allow for those players that want to play Zsinj or Kaine, can in fact play them. Although considering the amount of material and units required, it might simply be left for a mini-mod to cover this.

Superweapons have huge problems in both balance and implementation. I'll preface it by saying the destruction of planets in the game is something I've always found pointless to begin with, because in order to do it you basically have to win the battle anyways, so why not just take the planet?
Sun Crusher: An invincible unit which destroys suns and can fly through and destroy any ship. There's literally no way to implement that accurately, or to balance it. In the books it was destroyed by intentionally flying it into a black hole, that's not really something we can do here.
Galaxy Gun: The only way to really implement this would be to build the Galaxy Gun somewhere, and it allows you to buy the projectiles which you then have to fly around the galaxy with an escort or something, or you just get to send them wherever and suddenly uou've destroyed the enemy's shipyard planet or whatever else you decide to target. Again, that's no fun.
Death Star Prototype: Could basically be implemented like the Eclipse and Sovereign, technically, but from what I remember it was terribly inaccurate. Wasn't it aimed at a planet and then ended up hitting the moon?
1) Having a World Devastator would be interesting, perhaps using Rom Mohc's unit ability from the base game. Build a WD and place it in whichever system you want for cheaper over-all production of units and give you the ability to produce things like TIE droid fighters.
That kind of economic bonus might be interesting, but you couldn't do what they were actually used for; stripping a planet bare of whatever it had. All you'd be doing is building a unit which makes everything there cheaper or just randomly produces more units in battle or something, but there's no real drawback to using them. Basically the question is how expensive do you make something that powerful, when its primary function is economic bonuses? I mean, we can't include them in Ground combat, and they're pretty shit at space combat. As far as being required to build TIE Droids, you don't have to build those anyways, they come as complements for msot ships in Palpatine's era. They didn't have hyperdrives so there's really no other way to do it.
2) To reiterate what someone mentioned earlier: have regular Imperial army units, with stormtroopers being a stronger elite unit.
Kind of pointless. There'd never be any reason to build the weaker ones.
3) Allegiance-class Star Destroyer added to whatever era that Palpatine Clone comes back.
We're putting in the Praetor II for that era. We needed to do it for Delvardus anyways.
4) A new GC map where you play as one of the warlords. A map consisting of solely the Pentastar Alignment, Zsinj Empire, and Zero Command as the main factions, with the NR and other lesser warlords functioning as non-aligned or NPCs. This kind of thing is being, and can be, discussed here (http://gutr.swrebellion.com/forums/index.php/topic,2229.0.html).
-
Yeah I agree, the less superships/ weapons the better. Alliance Mod has way too many of them, and they counter it by making the Jedi space heroes ludicrously overpowered by integrating the "lucky shot" ability into their regular attack rotation. So really it just ends up with these ridiculously overpowered ships duking it out.
-
How about some of the stuff from the ... Kevin J Anderson books
When we had the Hutt faction (since been removed) i always wanted to give them Darksaber. When you try to fire the superlaser the ship self-destructs! :D
-
Well, the Allegiance-class ISDs come from that page AFAIk:
http://starwars-exodus.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Exodus_Ships
Yet I don't know what is the "canonicability" of these ships there; I only know that some of these (like Allegiance, ISD Mk III, Executor Mk II and Legacy SSD) were used by Nomada_Firefox in his "Alliance" Mod... ???

Well that Chiss Star Destroyer picture is our old model, isn't it? Hardly what i'd call canon!

Nomada uses whatever he can find models to take, it seems like. Basically that means anything Evillejedi ever made. The Allegiance isn't fanon, it's had a name and even design for a long time, and Fractal Sponge made a more thorough design based on existing pictures which was adopted by the EssentiallyGuide to Warfare as canon: Here (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120425171207/starwars/images/d/db/54.jpg).
But yeah, the page you linked to is entirely fanon, that's what that wiki is for. You'll notice at least 5 of our designs up there, none of which are the improved versions either.
-
Yep, as he once wrote, he made his mod "as he himself would like to play", i.e. with lots of stuff not always very "canonica" (but often very "fanonical" anyway) - like the "mirrored" (i.e. with bridge up and down the hull, being a "twin" one...) ship used in a fan-made movie about "stormtroopers bringing peace to the Galaxy" (IIRC "the unit" or sth similar...?).
It's nice but sometimes my fleets in Alliance get packed with all that new stuff beyond any recognition, as I like to build all heavy ships I can - thus I finish with some ~20 SSDs of various classes... :D :P

You're thinking of I.M.P.S The Relentless.

Yep, that's right:

Just got done listening to my old cassette tapes of the Dark Empire radio type performance or whatever it was. Well basically a book on tape type of thing. Anyways, in Dark Empire II when they're attacking Balmora there was this big deal about the Empire's new star fighter, the Shadow Droid. The Empire doesn't have much in the means of capable star fighters that can act on their own besides the tie defender until the Pellaeon era. Otherwise standard tie fighters are only good for those instances when the New Republic and Empire of the Hand don't include significant numbers of star fighters in there fleets. Maybe the Shadow Droid as an exclusive to the Reborn Palpatine era would be useful.
-
Already planned, actually.
-
I've never been a big fan of the Dark Empire graphic novels but I did like some of the units like the Shadow Droids, they seem deliciously diabolical and the Empire could indeed do well with some of those cyborg nightmares. I look forward to getting my hands on them.
-
Just had an idea about a possible Imperial unit. In FOC, the producers were originally planning to have buildable shuttles that could latch onto and steal enemy ships. Why not do that with the Empire, but instead of shuttles, make it the mole miners that Thrawn used in Heir to the Empire?

You can't do it without it being either overpowered or useless.
-

Yes Senza is right. It's even been brought up in a few other posts I think. It would a be a very interesting aspect added to gameplay if it was feasible, but sadly it is not.
-
Guess I never really thought of that. What about spacetroopers, though? They could be like fighters, but with proton torpedo launchers as well as laser cannons.
-
has anyobyd suggested the Turbulent-class Star Destroyer (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Turbulent-class_Star_Destroyer)?
-
Yes, it has been suggested, however:
built by the Imperial Remnant following the Swarm War.
The mod goes from 6ABY to 19ABY with allowances for technology up to the start of the Vong War (25ABY). The Swarm War took place in 36ABY.
