NR and EoTH play tips
« on: March 20, 2016, 06:17:31 AM »
I mainly play Empire of the Hand and, by extension, New Republic.

Are there any recommended unit mixes and combinations, tech tree research and general play styles, strategy and tactics useful against both AI and human players? I would appreciate any advises.

Also, will Empire of the Hand ever have their own supercapitals? It would be great if they hit fast, hit hard, hit long, and swift both in the real and hyperspace, even though a bit fragile for a Titan. Which ships they will get following updates? And what exactly is Gilzean capital ship? Finally, have you any plans to add new skill sets to the capitals and the Titans?

I suck with the EoTH, so nothing I can help you with there.

With the NR, one of my favorite strategies is to play defensively.  Get as many planets as you need to easily get your economy growing, build up massive defenses along your borders, build 3-4 moderate sized fleets to patrol your area, and make sure everything for culture is researched, and build the $@^& out of culture centers.  Once your culture has pushed the enemy off a planet, combine a few fleets into a giant attack fleet and destroy all the infrastructure they left behind in the planets gravity well, and build it up as yours.  It's not pretty, it's not fast, but it irritates opponents to no end to throw their fleets at you to die trying to destroy your culture centers to protect their planets.

People should not be afraid of their government...governments should be afraid of their people.

That is a great advise. Thank you very much for kind aid.
Would you mind if I ask you recommendable ships for NR? And may I inquire you about the most beneficial military/civil research order of NR? Since I consider ㅁadequate, advantageous unit combination is crucial for victory in the Ascendancy.

I haven't played as the EotH yet, but with the New Republic, that's pretty much my strategy as well. I'll typically expand quickly and build an FDL(Final Defensive Line) a few planets out from my capital, then continue expanding until I encourage ter another enemy. But I build the $#!+ out of my trade ports and broadcast centers. At that rate, my credits skyrocket, and my culture spreads like wildfire. Until you run into an enemy, focus on civilian research. Then work on your military research. Mind you this is all for AI enemies. I haven't had the pleasure of facing human enemies yet.

For the NR, my preferred strategy (on non-Hapan maps) is to rush the boarding party tech ASAP and start grabbing garrison Dreadnaughts, Strike cruisers and VSDs right away.  Almost for free you can end up with a ton of heavy cruisers in the early game, speeding up your expansion and giving you an edge for early battles with enemy fleets.  It'll require a fair bit of micromanagement and getting used to using boarding party effectively, but it works well.

That's become a new favorite strategy of mine as well. I usually pair or triple the Liberty cruisers to pick up the ships quickly.

I forgot to mention that one is going to need Hajens very quickly to make this strategy work effectively, and they too are best micromanaged - turn off fighter resupply auto cast (conserve fighters by keeping them docked until Lancers are taken out), and it is also best to turn off repair auto cast.  You only need to get captured ships up above 50% hp for them to be at full effectiveness, and maintaining supply and timers off guarantees you the ability to get them there fast.
