maybe they don't die seemingly. like the event horizon of a black hole. it is just a point of view. Time slows down so much that from the outside it seems the guy stopped completely, while the guy sees as he is getting crushed into the black hole. (if we rule out the gravitational forces)

I'm a NR fan personally, although it's still early in my ICW career.

1 - I'm just a sucker for the good guys coming out on top in the end, even if it took 95 plot bunnies of varying ridiculousness ("Mom's people are invisible!" - really, BFC?), and those are the characters I get a kick out of playing around with. It gives me fond memories of X-Wing Alliance to send in Han and Chewie first and fly around picking off a couple dozen TIE squadrons before bringing in the rest of the fleet.

2 - I don't really enjoy the game's ground battles (not a RTS guy in general), so the NR compliments how I most enjoy the game. The NR faces challenges on the Galactic and Space battle realms, where I enjoy the effort involved with managing things precisely enough to win. Thanks to the Strategy forum, I can make the ground battles less tedious, micro-filled combined arms nightmares by spamming V-Wings, Freerunners, and adding in some heroes to take key points.

My favorite fraction is 1/2 because reasons. My favorite faction would be the Pentastar Alignment because (in my opinion) they use some of the sexiest ships in the mod.

Easily the New Republic. Their beginnings as the Alliance and all of the struggles that this organization went through to become what it is has always been a fantastic thing to read and learn about. Plus, I'm all for the heroism good guy stuff.

Yeah How many lives were fucked up by their actions. How many young men Died aboard those great weapons they built.

But in all seriousness really the NR kind of fucked the galaxy both in Cannon and In Legends. In Legends it is arguably worst but I can boil it down to 4 things.

1: They trigger the Imperial Warlords who fought huge conflicts over Planets with good people who had to suffer.
2: They really were a shity government. The Leaders of the NR had honestly been very selfish and most took advantage of this if it were not for our brave "Heroes".
3: They were clearly never prepared for the vong war and left many worlds in ruins.

In cannon the main problem is that they are now like the empire in legends because the CSA and Hutts form new factions after Episode 7.

BUT I'm going Maldrood and Zsinj. Because I'm reading Wraith Squadron through Solo Command (Should I read Courtship of Princess Leia?)

Thing is while I disagree with their overall government I do greatly admire and respect the NR fighting men, women and aliens. You simply can't NOT like them.
no one here could honestly say if given the chance to hang out with the Rogues, Booster, Wraiths, Bel iblis, Han, Leia, Lando , Luke and Mara as well as KYLE KATARN you wouldn't take it.

but I agree. the new republic started noble and trying to do right, but Leia, Mon Mothma, Ackbar, and others stepped down and let the greedy ones take over, ruining everything they built and destroying the galxy for the Yuuzhan vong

I prefer imperial factions because when you boil it down, its just more effective to rule thousands of planets by force than to try and make them all agree. The republic heroes were cool guys, but I guarantee there were cool guys in the empire as well. They just weren't protagonists.
