Today, June 7th 2012, marks the 6 year anniversary of the creation of Thrawn's Revenge. Six years ago Corey had a dream: become an astronaut. Instead, he decided to start a mod.
...The Stars Align...Those of you who played 1.0 may remember that the faction currently known as the Imperial Warlords was originally split into two groups, these being the Pentastar Alignment and the rest of the Warlords. In later versions, the two were recombined. However in 2.0 we're going to be reversing this change and going a bit further with it in the other direction. The Pentastar Alignment will now be a fully independent and playable faction, including skirmish mode and multiple Galactic Conquest scenarios.
Their unit list will be a bit of a mixed bag. They will have their signature frigate, the Enforcer-class picket ship, as well as the Vindicator and Immobilizer-418, however they will also have many Imperial ships and vehicles dating back to the Old Republic, such as the Venator, AT-PT, IFT-X and Acclamator. The Pentastar Alignment also cononically included the territory of the Banking Clan, as well as a droid manufacturing company. Because of this, they will also have access to some Banking Clan units, such as the Hailfire Droid and the Munificent.
Also, because their territory includes one of the more important regions of Imperial space, Oversector Outer, they will include some of the former Empire's most powerful ships. A mainstay of the Pentastar fleet across all eras will be the Praetor II Battlecruiser, a ship with 3 times the size and firepower of a typical Star Destroyer pictured above on the left.
...Black Fleet Crisis...One of the new Galactic Conquest scenarios in 2.0 is based on the Black Fleet Crisis, a conflict between the New Republic and the Duskhan League. This GC features 12 planets, as well as both the New Republic and the Yevetha as playable factions. Click the play button below to watch the preview video for this GC.
...Moving Forward...As we move into the next year, we've got some big things planned. The most relevant of which is the impending release of Imperial Civil War 2.0. We're approaching beta phase, and as such have begun to pick beta testers. If you wish to participate in the beta, please post
here. We currently have 5 set, with plans to add another 10-20 over the coming weeks until the beta phase begins, so there's still lots of time to sign up.
