In this excellent clip where Thrawn goes at governor pryce for her being a incompetent bitch he does something that confused me.



Watching the clip when shown Kanan's light saber Thrawn sighs and says
"So its true then.." In a rather sad voice as if he is disappointed that the jedi was killed. May I ask why he was a little upset?

Not sure if they were trying to convey him being upset, but if they were my guess would have to be it was how he was killed and not the fact that he was killed. Thrawn has a great deal of respect for enemies that deserve it. The skill shown by the Ghost crew have certainly made them worthy of his respect. So my best guess is that Thrawn was upset that Kanan was killed by a cowardly act of desperation instead of in a true battle where both sides have a fighting chance.
