Protons are the more powerful, but more expensive. Also heavy and unwieldly and such.  Torps for fighters, Concussion for troops/ground vehicles

Im not really sure on this matter, but I think that protons are better for anti-capital ship duty whilst concussion are better for anti-fighter duty.
