EAW/FOC crashes preventing play
« on: May 04, 2014, 03:22:07 PM »
Hey guys,

I recently tried to get back to playing FOC after I discovered this fantastic mod, but I keep getting crashes.

I first reinstalled through steam, but whenever I try to run the game it ends up crashing my whole computer (no exceptions or reversion to desktop, just complete powerdown).

I tried to running without the mod and have the same problem. Same with running EAW.

I then reinstalled my original retail versions of the game including downloading and installing the RAM fix. I get the same unstable crashes.

I know this isn't a ICW problem, but since this site has such a strong active core of the community I was hoping someone could help me out.

System:
Windows 7
Geforce 130m
2.66 Intel dual core
4gb RAM

Thanks for any help you can give me! I can provide dxdiag on request.

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode for SP2 and checking all drivers for updates?

Ran windows update.

Manually installed the newest beta driver from Nvidia

Ran retail versions in compatibility mode for XP SP 2 and SP3

Tried to run game in compatibility mode in steam, but it wouldn't run at all. This is normal for steam, no?

I think I've got it mostly figured out.

Once I got rid of my second monitor it's at least stable enough to play.
