A War Stories Thread

I kinda feel like every good game forum needs a place to spin a good yarn or two, particularly when it comes to the million and one things that can and do happen on the battlefield. I'll start here with a couple of my own tales.

Playing the PA FTGU, I had a bit of victory disease from having steamrolled my way around the Outer Rim. I sent my fleet, without a capital ship (which I hadn't needed just yet), to Dathomir. Whoops! Kinda forgot about the Executor there. Still, confident I could pull it off, I dropped in a fleet heavy on Victory IIs and Venators, with a couple of IPVs and Munificents. I began my ritual...well, truth is, my "strategy" up to that point had been to just rush everybody at the enemy and hope for the best (which usually came). That didn't work out so well. But I learned. I reloaded, bought a Praetor, and then sent every fighter I had at the Executor while the fleet nibbled at the opposing support ships. I won that without losing a ship.

Back in the old days (by which I mean 2.0 without either hotfix), I sent an NR fleet during a Stars Align run to battle a Remnant force above some system (honestly can't remember which). I had Uwila Illor with me, keeping her in the back so as not to lose her to the heavy fire near the action. Well, back then raiding was a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of thing: you take your eyes off the screen for a split second, and next thing you know there's three Star Destroyers in your face. Poor Uwila. I have played many NR GCs since then, including the rage-quit-and-reload I did after that battle, but she will always be missed.

In one of my PA FTGU battles, I was attacked defending one of the EoTH planets.  I'd had it a while, so had 2 Hyper-V's on the planet, and had a Praetor in orbit with fleet (2 ISD-II's, 3 VSD-II's, 4 Acclamators, 5 IPV's).  The enemy fleet started out a couple ISD's with a Praetor and an Executor.  Got the Executor down to about 1/4 health and the bombers had taken out the Praeotr when suddenly a Sovereign came in.  Finished killing the Executor, went to work on the Sovereign.  By this time, I had lost both my Golans and several VSD's (my Praetor I had actually moved to the very rear of the formation so hadn't been targeted hardly at all yet).  Killing off the Sovereign, and yup...another #$@^%@%@#%ing Executor came in.  Destroyed the Sovereign and eventually even crushed the last executor, but ended up losing my Praetor, both ISD's, 2 of the VSD's, all the acclamators, all the IPV's, and both golans.

In 2.0 when the EoH had an overlapping herobonus that made their fleet godlike, I was the IR in Final Imperial Push, they swarmed up and bypassed a planet somehow and devastated Bastion and Muunilinst. I fell back to Borosk with 4 ISDs and Pellaeon with two Dreadnaughts and a mix of strike cruisers and lancers backed by two Golan IIs and two hypervelocity guns. They jumped in with all their heroes and over 24 capital ships. After 36 minutes of pitched battle that resulted in the loss of both dreadnoughts, all lancers, 3 Strikes and the 9 % dmage to all ISDs an the annihilation of the EotH fleet...it was a trap of simple yet elegant beauty and left me with the means to quickly strike into and subsequently conquer all their territory before hey could rebuild.

I was the penta star alignment.

I had just taken 5 systems just under a galactic day one of them kashyyyk stopping there because my army was worn out and i needed to shore up deffences in my new planets. 2 Golan 1ns and a dozen ISD MK2 s at kashyyyk. I waited there a bit to much. The enemy invaded when they arrived their fleet had a dozen frigates half a dozen ISD and 3 Executor SSD.
I pulled my fleet together and sent all bombers at the SSD and all fighters at their bombers my star destroyers engaged their support fleet. We were quickly overwhelmed it was a mess of a battle we were outnumbered and out gunned i destroyed most of their frigates and star destroyers before my fleet was obliterated the Golans destroyed a few more frigates but were destroyed. I was mad i sent jarec with five battle cruisers to conquer kuat and they did. The three executors divided one to attack kuat one for the new republic fleet in correllia with the support fleet the last one stayed over kashyyyk waiting for an army i bet. I dint give them the chance i sent 20 munificent star cruisers at them used the hypervelocity cannon i had built to help out after a hevy battle i lost 3 munificent frigates they lost an SSD. The one they sent at kuat never had a chance and was destroyed with no losses on my side. The new republic won the battle over correllia.
