Galatic Empire, Peace maker or destroyer of Freedom

Galactic Empire, Savior of the galaxy? Or the destroyer of it.

The Old Republic was corrupt to the core, allowing a set up civil war start and go on for years, to allow count dooku and others to destroy entire systems, enslaved a entire ARMY of clones, who happen to be people  >:( even though there are trillions of republic citizens able to fight, no they instead make a army of clones, and force them to die for a cause, other then their own. Not only that but they allowed their Democracy to shatter by letting a single man rule them for the entire war, and not just that a Sith lord, the most powerful one rule them, even though in democracy new leaders are apointed every other year, and the biggest smack in the face is the fact that the jedi were so stuck up, so blind that they allowed all of this to happen -_-

But then came the Galactic Empire, stability and justice was its image, but that was not entirelly true, yes the galaxy had peace under the Empire but the emperor was evil, and enslaved alot of spieces like the wookies, and not liking aliens in the military, but the emprie also did alot of good, exploring the unknown regions, creating a strong array of Weapons for defense, new hyper space lanes and alot more, so in the long run, did the empire do more good, or more harm?

What if.....

What if the Empire won the war? What if when vader killed the emperor, he did NOT die himself? He took control of the empire, and led the galaxy into peace? Now a jedi again, he would make peace with the Rebells, and reform the Galactic Senet, and ensure that the emperor's evil would never happen again. Over the years Vader's Empire grows stronger, with brilliant minds like Thrawn, Pellion, and others the empire is at its peek and beyond, the entire galaxy is at peace, then the Yuzan vong would come, and most agree that, the empire would have kicked them in the teeth! And prevented countless lives from being lost, and keeping the galaxy united, preventing further wars and keeping the total peace.

If the empire won, if Vader lived as a newly formed jedi, the Empire would have been a force for Good, and dozens of wars would have been avoided, but with the Rebellion, and the new republic an so on, multiple wars would spring up, never letting the galaxy be at peace, countless lives being lost in the tug of war match between The new Republic and several other factions. The reason why all these wars would and did start, was because setting up a entirelly new galaxy wide government with different methods then the former one, is crazy hard, giving room for corruption, and yes, more violence.

Like other Star Wars subjects i have alot to say on this, but i would love to hear from other Star wars fans about this :)

Anakin: You should be more patient master, after all, the count is a elderly gentlemen, and doesn't move like he used to

Obi Wan: I suppose your right.

Count dooku: I'd kill you both right now if i did not have to drag your bodies.

(Obi and anakin mock Dooku)

Interesting theory. I see a few possible problems with it though. First of all let me say I fully believe the Empire was better for the Galaxy(I think Grand Admiral Thrawn in command of the Empire was it's best potential. Having said that, the problem with your analogy is that Vader didn't have near the power of the Emperor(after the whole loss of limbs and burning thing.) The Emperor's WILL is what held the Empire together. When he died that basically cut the heart out of the Empire and set everybody to rushing for his Throne. Vader may have returned as a redeemed Jedi but the people UNDER Vader would not have followed him. Jerec and the Dark Jedi, Isard and Imperial intelligence, many of the Warlords with their fleets, and the Grand Moffs generally despised Vader and only suffered him because of his power in the Dark Side that he would use against them(which he wouldn't do as a Jedi, he would hold back with too much mercy as Luke so often did) and the power given to him by the Emperor. They would have branded Vader a traitor to the Empire for the act of killing the Emperor and certainly would not have followed him. it would have been similar to what happened anyway.

I DO believe that the Galactic Empire was much better for the Galaxy than the Old Republic. They explored much of the Galaxy, kept internecine wars between species suppressed, brought economic and political stability, and security. The old republic in contrast was blatantly corrupt, and the Jedi were only as useful as the very government they served. In fact had the Empire NOT been formed, the Rebellion never would have happened, the galaxy would NOT have militarized at all and then just imagine what the Yuuzhan Vong would have done to it. So yes the galactic Empire was the savior of the galaxy, a Dark Savior.
