I can't open the mod

Whenever I try to open the mod, the computer goes right back to the steam homepage and that's it. I don't know why this is happening, and uninstalling - reinstalling doesn't work. Please help.

1.  What version of the mod, v2.1, 2.2demo?
2.  Does running base FOC game work correctly?
