Tector in 2.2
« on: March 11, 2017, 12:36:04 AM »
I see the Eriadu Authority and The Greater Maldrood get the Tector.  In what eras will they have access to this glorious ship?  And is it still era 4 only for the IR?

Thank you.

The Tector is eh at best. Not as versatile as an ISD II. Tough weapons and armor do help it though. I would assume the GM and EA get the Tector through all five eras but if the demo is any indicator the Maldrood may no longer have access to the Tector since the Allegiance is basically a better version.

Allegiance is definitely better, but also double the population cost, which IMO would make a good argument for keeping the Tector.  Tector + VSD-1 + CR-90 = much more rounded fleet for same population cost as an Allegiance.

Allegiance would be best suited to replace Praetor for IR in era 3. So that Praetor remains PA-only ship, not to mention it makes IR a bit too powerful in that era.

Please keep in mind that praetors will be nerfed for 2.2
Also PA was essentially a part of the IR during Shadow Hand(Era 3) so their presence there is entirely justified, even lore-wise.

Praetors being available to the Pentastar isn't really lore-based, more an extrapolation for a role they needed. The only ships they are confirmed as using are Enforcers and the Reaper. There's no reason to make Praetors a Pentastar-exclusive unit, as the only confirmed post-Endor usage of Praetors is the Thalassa by the Eriadu Authority.

On the subject of Tectors, I'd personally like to see them instead of the Allegiance in the ranks of Maldrood after the Sorannon gets finished. Two battlecuisers seem a bit redundant, I'd like to see the Tector more and wouldn't mind the Allegiance being a bit less common.

I would agree for the purposes of Shadow Hand GC, but not for Art of War where you can have PA face off against era 3 IR with Praetors.

But you also have to consider that the version is already there.
Now we should lock it out in every other GC then and put in an Allegiance, which we have to lock out where that is not relevant.
It is just a lot of work for minimal difference.

Edit: but this is not the thread for it. if you want to continue it, open up one for it

That is great news.  I have to be honest here gents, I have been reading a lot about 2.2 and because of that I have a tent in my pants.

Allegiance is definitely better, but also double the population cost, which IMO would make a good argument for keeping the Tector.  Tector + VSD-1 + CR-90 = much more rounded fleet for same population cost as an Allegiance.

I have not played the demo so I will take your word for it.

Since I never send in a Capital ship alone the lack of fighters is made up for the better combat ability IMHO.  My Tectors are far more effective than ISD II's up against Praetors and Phalanxs.  It is a long and sad wait until Era 4 when I can purchase them.

I do not know what the plans for the warlords and Tector are.  I think for the IR and warlords as well the Tector should be available in more than just Era 4.  A Tector was in RofJ so they were present at Endor, we have hero Blitzer Harrsk in Era 1 and 3, wiki says "it served for decades."

Yes, we know that. The only reason that in 2.1 the Remnant only got Tectors at era 4 is that their fleet had minimal use(if at all IDK at the moment) Tectors, but Hartsk had them for a known fact. And since Daala obsorbed all his forces this is how we represented it being there.
In 2.2, it will likely not change for the remnant, but Maldrood will have access to them as well.(If I know right. Sorry, been looking too much at codes lately and I don't know what is what anymore...)

No need.
