Praji' civil war review
« on: January 19, 2016, 04:10:11 PM »
As a new member and fan of civil war, I wish to express my thoughts on Corey and team thrawn's work. Here I go. Note I will mention some things I have brought up to Corey and some others with more knowledge than I

First I would like to say, I am so happy they removed zann constitium, even though I loved Zerg rushing my enemies with kamikaze ewoks a lot of their shit is way overpowered and for my hardware, the corruption fog turned my game into a complete shit fest. And while I am a bit sad hapan and dushkan aren't really playable on their own in many of the campaigns except for 2, I really enjoy how simple but brutal the game can be and how they have given each playable team a better roster than the base game.

For ground combat I can say they improved it a bit, while a majority of planets are lacking their "militias" example being no wookies defending kashyyk . Some maps look really nice and one of the planets near coruscant is turret heaven XD which I loved. Unfortunately I do notice some maps are repeats and while it does annoy me a lil how huge the battles could possibly be is a nice touch .

As a ground commander I love infantry, and this was a topic I brought up to Corey, in the books most warlords did have access to specialized or elite members of the stormtrooper corps such as thrawn using jumptroopers during one operation, which were called sky troopers or something before force unleashed gave us the commander Cody looking jumptroopers and pentastar having better Stormtroopers called Field troopers which Corey would know from my cries of "fieldtroopersplz" and while A new mod called battlefront commander does show that different stormtrooper types can work pretty well in eaw (ex being the new shock troopers being minigunners, evo troopers did something, and jumptroopers allowed me to take shortcuts) Corey did own me on the fact that for something like that to be in civil war would take time for one, someone actually wanting to do it in the first place, and the unit bar which only has a limited space  and while some of the current civil war units being op *stares at hail fire droids* a lot of the game can be pretty enjoyable.

Onto SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE. Yes I honestly think this is were they shined, in space a star destroyer felt like a star destroyer instead of being nerfed in the base game. And while some ships are way op like praetors and executors to the point where I can pretty much just send my "golden fleet" and push the enemy back. Team thrawn really did a good job on making the ships feel how they are suppose to feel :3 and after talking to Corey bout super weapons like Galaxy gun which sadly he confirmed for me that it's gonna be for sins, even for a ground guy like me I do like watching the enemy try to take on a ssd with their nebulons and marauders and watch them fail.

HERO TIME!!!! Yes the heroes, I do like how they expanded the cast of characters and the whole permadeath for heroes does make you feel like your making a last stand (if a ground hero is trapped by overwhelming numbers or in space) and while I do think a certain inquisitor for p-star may need a new line instead of "RAAAWR!!" Which I won't lie I had my volume all the way up and that rawr blew out my ear drumb (metaphorically) a lot of the new and old crew are pretty decent. Now for my favorite black guy...come on Corey, give lando some lines >:4.

the majority of you probably like it, but yeah I love civil war and can't wait for 2.2 and while it does have some flaws, like remnant spawning eweb teams, and my favorite space faring dinosaurs won't be included sadly, I will give civil war, a rating of  9 papayas and a coconut :3

Quite the well thought out review. Kuscidave and I are working on the Warlords for 2.2 ICW and you brought up some really good ideas. The Jump Troopers especially.
I am also the voice actor for the certain Inquisitor of the PA lol. A few of my lines got cut in final draft but I agree with you on it. I tried to take lines from DFII that Jerec used and that yell was his main go to in ground battle. Turned out louder than I planned.

Le gasp! I've got a team thrawn member's approval *fangirl screams* XDD

But why thank you, spent my free time trying all the different factions and had this review in my head for awhile, and why Corey still thinks field troopers are pointless, I personally would love to see what kind stuff you give the warlords possible jump troopers? :3

I gotta say I think my single biggest problem with the game at all, is the fact that playing as the PA, it is the absolute and only goal of the Imperial Remnant to either take Wayland or Ithor (especially Ithor) and nothing else. I have massive fleets sitting on them as gates essentially, and while I have my attack fleet in another part of a galaxy, these two planets are assaulted by anywhere from 2 carrack cruisers and a lancer to 3 SSDs or Hero spams, and always in mini stacks usually, over and over again.

I know it's a glitch and all, but it just gets old, very quickly.
The Galactic Empire - The best thing to happen to the galaxy since Midichlorian counts.
