Balance?

How are all these Empire ships with superweapons going to be balanced out? Corey said that
the viscount will have more standard firepower than, say, the soverign, but whats the point of sending your viscount against it if the soverign can just blow the viscount out of the sky with one fell swoop?

Let me ask another question. Is the superlaser muzzle targetable?
If so, send bombers to take it out and then send the Viscount in to finish the job.
Or maybe you shouldn't send a Viscount against a Sovereign. Send something it can't hit with it's superlaser. Like bombers.

There's little to no chance you will ever have a Viscount when the empire has a Sovereign. Sovereigns are tech 3, Viscounts are tech 5. And no, the super laser isn't targetable, it is an ability. Saying "all these" makes it sound like they have a shitload of ships with them, when in reality it's just the Eclipse and Sovereign. The Eclipse is a one off ship as the Emperor's flagship, and the Sovereign is really expensive. Sovereigns take a long time to build as well, so you probably won't face many. they're terrible against fighters/bombers, and their superlaser can only hit a single target, and takes a while to recharge.
