Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Fourth Playable Faction
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:28:31 PM »
Will we be able to play as the Yevetha in the Black Fleet Crisis GC?

Not sure yet, depends on how the technical stuff goes. All I can say at this point is definitely maybe.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Third new 2.0 GC
« on: March 28, 2012, 04:42:41 PM »
We're planning on doing three new GCs for 2.0. The first one is the Black Fleet Crisis, the second isn't going to be discussed just yet, and we want to know what everyone wants to see for the third. It could be a canonical conflict, or just something you feel is currently missing from that mod that would be fun, so if you have any ideas, post them.

Star Wars Discussion / Favourite Author and Series
« on: March 11, 2012, 07:14:05 AM »
In the hero suggestion thread there was a bit of discussion about this, so I decided to make a topic for it. Basically, who's your favourite EU author and why, and which is your favourite book series? More importantly, which ones do you hate? I'll post mine later.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Imperial Heroes
« on: February 12, 2012, 04:21:54 AM »
For 2.0, we're hoping to expand a bit on the heroes available to the Empire so they aren't as completely outnumbered in that way. Thrawn has a pretty varied and complete set, but the other eras could use some expansion, so we want your suggestions on who they could use. Preferably a bit more than a name (include suggested function/ship/etc)

News & Updates / Return of the Admiral's Lounge
« on: January 31, 2012, 08:26:47 AM »
We've decided to re-activate the Admiral's Lounge, which some of you who have been around for longer may remember. Basically it's a forum that requires 50 posts to get into where we post additional information, renders, plans, etc that we aren't ready to make completely public yet. We do this essentially for the same reason we did the forum betas; encourage community involvement and activity in the development in the mod by opening the process a bit more to others, and to get feedback on what we've already done without having to make it too widely distributed. Along with this, it gives a bit more of an immediate incentive to post and get into the future beta pool.

-Corey

Currently in the Lounge:
-Full unit lists for 2.0
-IDT, Heavy Tracker skinned renders
-A new EotH ship design render
-New map pictures

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Tutorial GC
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:33:16 AM »
I'm thinking of doing a small tutorial GC which basically just explains the differences between TR and the original game (assuming my scripting skills are up to it). Since I'm already pretty familiar with the mod, I'm probably not the best person to decide what should be included.

Basically, I'm thinking:
-Shipyards vs Stations
-Era progression vs Tech upgrades

What else should be covered?

News & Updates / The Future of Betas
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:00:42 PM »
So, anyone who's been paying attention for the last year or so has probably noticed that for 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and now 1.3, we've done open betas before release, where basically anyone could get and test the beta (with the occasional caveat of a small post count requirement).

The reason for this has always been to open the beta to a wider audience and catch as many bugs as possible, and we always tried to make it clear that this was a beta, meant for testing and not for anyone who wanted to just "check out the mod." We really do appreciate the interest in the mod, but these betas aren't like the beta for a Triple-A title where you're looking for connectivity issues in an MMO or something tiny which slipped through the cracks after extensive in-house testing. There's only a small number of us, and the extent to which we have to change the mod as we go makes our own saves unusable and means we don't get as far into the game as others, on average, so the beta is for all intents and purposes untested, and really isn't meant for wide consumption. So, naturally, what the betas end up as is about 100 downloads but only 5-10 people who post bugs (huge thanks to everyone who's been doing so). There's also some people who see the post requirement as a challenge to see how fast they can get 5 (usually spammy) posts, which really isn't the point. Not everyone does this, but enough that it gets kind of annoying as moderators who then have to delete the posts. We're not trying to cover up the mod or something, we're trying to make sure that it's as good as it can be when it gets its final release.

As a result of this, we're going to switch to the more conventional methods of mod beta-testing in the future; we'll handpick a bunch of people (preferably 10-20) from the community for each release. So, if you want to test future betas, make your presence known to us. We tend to engage with the community quite a bit, so if you're contributing, we'll remember you, but can't pick you if we don't know who you are. And if we don't pick you, don't be offended. We can't pick everyone for everything.

The feedback we get, positive or negative, is crucial to the mod being good. 1.3 wouldn't be half of what it is without the ideas we've received from the community. If there's something you think should be changed, then tell us. If you want to disagree with something we've said, please do, we're not absolutist. There's nothing we like more than a large review telling us what should be changed. We're weird like that. As long as you don't say it like we have to do it, we won't hold it against you, and whether an idea or criticism is acted upon or not, it can still generate discussion about something new.

Keep the feedback coming,
-Corey

PS- We've just surpassed 150,000 downloads, so thanks for that too. (70,000 for 1.0, 60,000 for 1.2, 20,000 for FotR2)

352
No, they're 1.4. We plan to do a GC for them in that release as well.

353
Use this thread to discuss anything in the 1.3 beta that doesn't qualify as a bug. Anything you like, don't like, think should be changed for the full version, etc.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Fanart: Ascendancy in Lego
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:43:17 PM »
RememberMM from the Lego message boards has apparently made the old Ascendancy model in LEgo form, so I thought I'd post it here, cause it's pretty damn awesome to see someone make something you designed in Lego form.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Empire of the Hand Upgrades
« on: December 10, 2011, 07:35:27 AM »
One of the things that the Empire of the Hand lacks at the moment is the kind of tactical upgrades available to the other two factions in skirmish/GC battles. I could probably just go and make duplicates of the existing ones, but that's no fun, so we want your input. These can be anything from stat increases for specific units to new abilities for them, etc.

Hey guys, just wanted to get people's thoughts on this. There was a similar topic sometime before 1.2 came out, but here it is again.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Empire of the Hand improvement
« on: October 27, 2011, 11:34:03 AM »
Hey people,

We recently put a poll on our Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thrawns-Revenge/20781119569) asking people which faction was their favourite to play as, and the results (thus far) put it at about 50% Remnant, 30% New Republic and 20% EotH, so we wanted to ask what exactly it is people think they're lacking in comparison to the other two factions. Now that we're done redoing the EotH ships, we're able to focus on general improvement so we'd like to hear everyone's idea.
