There's no readme file, or at least I can't find it.

The .rar file contains a readme text file that has the installation instructions in addition to the "v. 1 and 2 mod features" word doc and "v.3 Changelist" text file that list most of the new features and edits to the original ICW 2.15.

News & Updates / Re: Greater Maldrood (And Federated Teradoc Union)

Sorry to nitpick on EU canon things but why have both Togoria and Thanos on the same map and two hyperlanes apart since they were located in the same star system?

And yep, I'll be back to (sub)mod the ICW in some capacity after 2.2 comes out. Been away from active modding since I started working full-time, but I've got plenty of unfinished EaW modding projects both large and small that just need to find a home and some time to finish them.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: The good the bad and the ugly of the new canon:
« on: September 17, 2015, 05:57:36 PM »
The nu-canon novels have been consistently better in quality than the old EU and both Rebels and Marvel comics have been more than decent. Still lacking its own Thrawn Trilogy or the Unifying Force, though if they keep this level of quality up a truly great piece of NEU Star Wars is bound to happen eventually.

And yeah, never cared much about the clone microchip plotline. It kind of ruins the purpose of having to find a heartless bastard like Jango to be the prime clone.

I know no one post on this thread in forever but anyone got a download link the one on the front page isn't working.

Alright, I fixed the download link in the first post :).

News & Updates / Re: Randomized Z-Layer
« on: June 04, 2015, 10:33:09 AM »
That'll definitely affect tactics, not being able to rely on dropping frigates on top of capital ships for cover and local firepower.  Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

I may understand this wrong, but  movement class should still remain the same, even if z-layers are randomized. So stacking should still be possible. And if ships are set to randomize roughly at certain levels, cap ships may still be placed under frigates.

Do hero or difficulty-based damage bonuses apply to the superlaser shot?

Most likely yes.

Edit: A quick Shadow Hand campaign load allowed me to test this, and Palpy definitely can 1-shot Lusankya (playing on Admiral as the IR, no other heroes present on my side).  I do have the Balance and Flavor submod installed - did that alter the superlaser damage or SSD hp at all, Vulcanus (if you read this)?

No changes were made.

The novellas Command Decision and Crisis of Faith deal with Thrawn and the EotH, while the novels Outbound Flight, Allegiance and Choices of One have some characters that also appear in Thrawn's Revenge (Hand of Judgement, C'Baoth's nearly-as-insane non-clone version, Thrawn). All are by Zahn and are worthy reads if you like his style or are interested in reading more about how the EotH came to be.

My must-read list in chronological order would be:

KotOR comics. If you need to read one piece of ancient Star Wars history, this is it. Great characters, timeless storytelling.

Darth Plagueis. You may want to read Cloak of Deception and some other pre-Phantom Menace novels to fully appreciate this masterpiece, but it is surely great enough to be a good read on its own. Together with CoD it makes the Phantom Menace SO much better.

Yoda: Dark Rendezvous. Again, if you should read one novel from the Clone Wars, this is it.

Labyrinth of Evil. Direct tie-in to RotS and improves it tremendously.

X-Wing novels and comics. These are just too much fun to be left on the shelf.

Hand of Thrawn duology.

The entire New Jedi Order series. Even with its ups and downs, this is easily the most epic piece of Star Wars EU.

Legacy comics. Once you've read the Unifying Force to end the NJO, you can skip everything in-between (except maybe Mercy Kill if you liked the previous X-Wing series) and move straight to this. Like the NJO, Legacy was arguably too ambitious for its own good, but I view it as a good thing.

And things to avoid: Fate of the Jedi series, Legacy of the Force series, Planet of Twilight, Crystal Star, Approaching Storm.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Sovereign
« on: May 11, 2015, 06:41:13 AM »
In the Awakening of the Rebellion Mod the AI doesn't spawn many Ships.

She cannot build Ships without Credits.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't lot of the AI madness contained in original EaW XML files? And custom AI is one of the best things about AotR. Hmm. I never studied their edits or the original AI in much detail. Of course, AotR does not have any limited recruitment ships that could ruin your day the way Sovereign or Viscount hordes can and the AI in AotR still seems to spam area-restricted units even when it doesn't own the required planets, though that could be intended and enabled through story events.

How do you activate it?

Or where is the sub mod?

I don't have the Republic-class XML file available right now, but you would need to edit the tech level to somewhere between 0-4 (means 1-5) and check if it has a line about it being locked and change or remove that.

My submod is here: http://thrawnsrevenge.com/forums/index.php?topic=4920.0

The vanilla Republic-class and mine are a not quite the same, as I used different weapon hardpoints and fighter complement IIRC and it has significantly weaker hull and lower build cost to make it closer to its canon description, whereas the TR team's Republic is a stronger star destroyer similar to ISD I and Nebula, just without any fancy missiles or tractor beams.

False

Was it in 1.3? My mistake, it's been a while. Who can remember that far back in time ;)? Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing it make a return as the NR could use a hard-hitting assault ship before it gets access to the Nebula.

31
The Republic-class is in the mod, it was just never used. If you want to use it, you can search for it in NewRepublicSpaceUnits.XML (?) to activate it, or try my submod, which has the Republic-class as an Era 3-exclusive buildable.

There are several good reasons why it is not used in the mod. It has very similar armament compared to the Nebula-class, and it is truly the king ugly of star destroyers. Then again, since the upcoming 2.2 will have the equally hideous Secutor and Gladiator classes, maybe there is some hope for the Republic ;). Warships aren't supposed to look beautiful anyway.

Interestingly, despite some similarities to the Nebula, the Republic-class fulfills a distinctly different role in the fleet. With twice the number of ground troops carried, consumables for two years and being one of the least expensive star destroyers on the market, I've always viewed it as the NR's attempt to rapidly expand its fleet by directly replacing the Imperial-class. Yet while it is different enough from the Nebula, the problem is that neither ground complements or consumables carried are used in EaW, so all that remains is a cheap, disposable glass cannon star destroyer.

It doesn't matter if i write in units into the tech tree units XML, It just doesn't want to apply... >:(
Any help would be appreciated...

This should help:

The Black Fleet Crisis is pretty solid as long as you skip the Luke side story. The Yevetha were the first really brutal enemies on par with the Vong as far as how cruelly they are portrayed. There is some interesting political and moral scenarios for Leia, they introduce a good new character in Etahn A'bhett, and Landos side story though it distracts from what's going on in the central plot is enjoyable by itself.

I would even suggest skipping all the Lando chapters as well when you first read the trilogy, then reading them separately later on. The BFC really is about three entirely separate stories, so reading them in a more cohesive way may provide better reading experience.

The BFC also has the best Ackbar we've ever had and that's quite something considering that Stackpole also wrote his character very well in some of the X-Wing novels. Between Ackbar and A'baht it really has better fleet commander action than even Gar Stazi or Thrawn had in their respective novels/comics.

Lord Xizer is running the compatibility version with my submod, which has three different CR variants, so the CR90 is coded as a variant and the base unit does not have any hardpoints.

35
Best case scenario: Build an ion cannon and then let the SSD come to you.

If you have to attack it, sneak several corvettes and frigates to its aft sector to take care of any spawned fighters and also deal some extra damage. Sacrifice an MC80b or two to soak up the damage. Swarm it with bombers. Try to have your Interdictor ready in the reinforcements so you can jump it in once the SSD is damaged enough to attempt retreating.

Well I'm genuinely excited to see a playable Duskhan League FTGU campaign. I really need to try this out when I can.

For the compatibility with my submod, I'll look forward to integrating this to my next release when I get back to modding ICW, if you are OK with that.

My current personal ICW folder is a mess that isn't compatible with, well, anything.

Nice work! Should surely make the BFC campaign more interesting. Will provide feedback after I find some time to test this.

Is not the point, his worthlessly used, I mentioned it. Yes it was equipped with 144 fighters, but as already said  it's a fact.
ISD Executor class, it is not just a big ship with lots of guns.

And yet, as in real life, a carrier is only as good as the fighters it carries. If most SSDs couldn't be given a full fighter complement without sacrificing fighter support elsewhere, what's the point in calling it anything but a big ship with lots of guns?

Most of the time SSDs were parked in orbit over important planets. In these situations it was likely that most of the local fighters were on surface bases rather than the SSD, so it didn't need to carry a thousand fighters, just provide an orbital pilot recovery and repair yard for the planetary fighters in case the system was attacked.

39
But I like them all!

Well, I don't like the Pentastar Alignment as much as the others.

Voting for EotH and Warlords.

40
So another GC where the Empire starts ruling over the Core and has SSDs, only with Jerec as a weaker Pentastar Alignment without Kaine. This wouldn't be too different from any of the Era 1 GCs tbh.

Also I would have a hard time immersing myself in a story where batshit insane baby-stealing clone-Palpatine would still rely on traditionalists like Pellaeon or Veers rather than his own Dark Side Elite.
