Perhaps the Hutt Cartel can be considered? I know you tried that in ICW and it didn't work out, but rather you may have looked at the Hutt's the wrong way. They aren't a full-on military force. They work by deception, trikery, and deceipt, which in-game could mean the manipulation of independent warlords, pirate gangs, and private military corporations to achieve their goals. See, the Hutts are not just like the NR, the Empire, or the Chiss, but aren't exactly a carbon copy of the Zann Consortium either.

The Hutt Cartel would take a lot more time than the Ssi Ruu/Pentastar, since we have a lot more of the resources for those Factions on hand. But I imagine they'd be possible though I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea. The whole "Underdog, win through deception hur hur hur" is a lot harder than you'd think and is hard to convey to most players.

Ascendancy Discussion / Re: Unit counts?

I agree. ;D

Saying things like this don't actually help or contribute to the conversation.

EDIT : I'll clarify so you don't hate me ; When you say shit like this? You're not helping. As I said above, it does nothing for the actual conversation. It's like telling someone you're offended in the middle of a conversation, it's more of a whine than anything important. What we want you to do is actually express yourself in your posts, you're a smart person, we know you guys can do that.

Would the fans like us to add more than what's on the list? If so there has to be a reason behind it. Like, the reason the MTC is going to be considered a Capital ship is because of how multi roled it's going to be. It has a real purpose, like colonization or whatever else it can be specced into.

No "ADD THE SSD 9001 PLS." unless you have a real ACTUAL reason. And please don't take the last part as me stifling your creativity, we want to hear stuff like this. We never have any decision in the mod without major criticism and serious discussion in our Mod.

EDIT : I'd like to say that it is going to be expanded on. The reason it's so small now is because we want base functionality instead of quantity. So now would definitely be the time to chime in with your previously well thought out ideas.

Don't forget we can add Darth Krayt's Empire and the Galactic Alliance Remnant! :/

HIRE THIS MAN. Man? THIS LEGEND.

65
yay vong ! can we just get rid of the specific era all together in ascendancy?

YEAH, AND THEN WE CAN ADD LIKE THE OLD REPUBLIC AND THE CIS AND TURN INTO THE CLUWN WURS. No, I think we're still staying in the general timeframe of ICW, but I don't think we're going to have ICWs era system.

You have 3 IR players.
There now the possiblity of having 3 SSDs in now in play.

More than that truthfully. Also a frightening thought that I'm surprised only just got brought up. (Or maybe it already did lol.)

A question: how will the ships be scaled in proportion to planet size? Will they be correctly scaled (making them very tiny) or will they be oversized for sake of gameplay.

They're pretty small. I'm also pretty sure we've answered this in detail before :).

Hello all my first post on this forum and i have a suggestion.

So game freeze when number of destroyed and builded ship's reach X number. X number is saved in save game(it should at least ? ) . Couldn't anyone edit list of destroyed ships by editing save game ?Clean it up , so total number won't reach X number and game won't freeze. is that doable ?

p.s. sorry for my bad english.

Simple answer is No.

I'd like you to take a look at a little game called Battlefield Play4free and tell me how you feel about it after an hour. It probably won't have as much meaning to you as you probably never saw the game before EA decided it wasn't pulling its weight, but..

I've played every single Battlefield game in existence. Except Operation Eagle, which came before 1942 and isn't really Battlefield. Yes, p4f was awful. But every single Battlefield game I've played was exceptionally enjoyable. 1 bad game isn't going to have that much sway over my opinion of DICE, I assure you.

Anyway, I confess I liked ME3 and didn't have much of a problem with the ending. If you want to see the reasons people do there's plenty of sources online concerning it. But that's Bioware. I imagine if they had their way it'd be over after 3, but instead EA's making them create 4, something that's indubitably going to go awful. It'd be sorta like Halo 4 where it's set after what was supposed to be the last game in the franchise, but without the commitment of the fans that worked within the company. That's not to say Bioware doesn't like its own story, but I can't imagine they'll feel any compulsion to put as much thought into it as the first three titles..

Making them create 4? As I understand it, it's another game within the Mass Effect universe, not Mass Effect 4. There's nothing wrong with this idea. If there was, then technically Star Wars is a bad IP and we the TR team shouldn't making mods for it.

As for DICE making BFIII, I wouldn't have issue with that. Battlefront was originally a Battlefield ripoff in the first place (and objectively a rather poor one at that). What I do have an issue with is EA doing the publishing and making these stupid executive decisions that sacrifice the integrity of the game to pull some extra money in.

There hasn't been a DICE Game that I don't enjoy regardless of of EAs decisions.

Lastly, KOTOR. You do realize TOR was made by Bioware, riiiight? (and apparently is the KOTOR 3 campaign) The game they had to go F2P just a year or two after release because subscribers were leaving in troves? They're unlikely to make any other Old Republic title while that's still bringing in revenue.

Yes, I know it was made by them. It's a great game and the only Co-op RPG with interesting consequences for your actions.

Does this make ToR bad or something? Games going F2p in MMO format isn't bad in any shape or fashion. Just about every MMO has gone f2p and made droves of cash money. TOR apparently doubled its income just by going f2p.

Perhaps they won't release a KOTOR based title, but Bioware is still a great company. And I'm willing to try any Star Wars title they create.

Justified pessimism is always better than blind optimism. Hop on chat sometime so we can yell at each other, eh?

It's not blind optimism if all my past experiences with EA have been filled with fun and memorable moments.

How so? The only recent blunder I can think of is Kinect Star Wars. We had 1313 coming out, as well as First Assault and Battlefront 3 if FA did well. I don't see how they're cashcowwy, either. Sure, there are a few stinkers like Republic Heroes, but they don't have any F2P titles (except for CWA, and that's Sony), they don't rehash the same thing every freaking year, they don't even make DLC for their games, for pete's sake! How could you possibly say that?

They rushed out EaW/FoC, causing a slew of features to be cut. Like Diplomacy, 35 units that Petroglyph admitted existed, and 3 way galactic conquest.

KOTOR 2 was rushed in favor of Christmas sales due to how popular the first one was. And because of that we lost so much content and narrative direction.

LA Also cut Battlefront 3 in favor of the handheld version of Battlefront

TFU 2 was also made out of nowhere, rushed, and then simplified so they could make a quick buck.

There is nothing wrong with DLC. Yes, there are some notable cases where developers are bad about it. But keep in mind that EA is by no means the worst.

70
My favorite EA Games are the Battlefield Series, Mass Effect, and the first Dragon Age. I own all of those games sans DA 2 and I can say they've all performed very well.

Now, if EA has DICE Make the new Battlefront? Holy shit I'll be excited. And if we get another KOTOR Esque title because it was given to Bioware? Man, that'll be the fucking best. I don't know about you guys, but I am excited for the titles they might release.

Lasers are red,
Ion bolts are blue,
I hate EA
You should too.

No, I shouldn't. My favorite game series come from Electronic Arts. Now I know it's the hip and cool thing to hate on EA because it's EA, but wait and see before you cast that judgement of yours.

the reason to add it would be to make the fans happy

The fans? No, I don't think so. You should not try to speak for so many people.

Sins of a Solar Empire / Re: Wanting some tips
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:02:21 AM »
That's a problem with Windows and it's asinine 2GB RAM limit rather than Sins... Run Sins through WINE and notice that suddenly you will experience little or no random crashes. That being said, Maelstrom isn't the worst offender in this category that I've seen, though it certainly isn't the best either. Can't say I've experienced the joy of this feature with Maelstrom personally.

No, that's a Developer problem.

The fact that no Mod I've played actually tries to assume that their Playerbase won't run it through WINE and instead, launch it normally through the game is easily the worst thing any Mod can do. It really is, because not all Fans want to commit two hours to just installing the mod simply because they don't have the proper reading comprehension to understand complicated installs.

And really, this isn't hard for the Dev.. If someone who is modding just takes the time to look at whats going on in Sins, you can easily reduce the amount of memory the game takes up in Vanilla alone.

Malestrom is really fun. To this date it's the only mod I like that has retained base Sins' ship mechanics, the tech and planets portion of the mod is top notch.

It sure as hell retained the crashing feature that Mods for Sins seem to love.

I don't want a ton of super ships i just feel so many cool ships are missing.

"Cool" is a point of view. Many of the ships you want we don't even like.

Right... Hard to keep track of what's 2.0 and 2.1 when it comes to bug fixes.

You didn't see the previous and following 8 attempts it went fine. We'd been trying to record for like 4 hours and I got lazy. That's why Kalo sounds angry at the start of the actual video. You also didn't see the video Enceladus, Kalo and I recorded while I was *slightly* drunk.  I'm sure the podcast outtakes will be similarly failtastic...

"slightly."

Empire at War and Forces of Corruption / Re: Steam Multiplayer?
« on: April 08, 2013, 04:05:45 PM »
I can confirm that it works.  Though, it would seem that due to some unknown reasons that it will most likely not work unless you install the patch on a freshly installed copy of the game.  And, I have a friend that told me it would seem that mods break it, though he was using Republic at War, which installs patches to the game itself (apparently, that is what he told me, idk) but me and some other friends are in the process of trying out Imperial Civil War in mulitplayer - me and another are on Steam, the other is on Retail.  Will get back to you guys on whether or not Imperial Civil War breaks the compatibility.

What ended up breaking it for me and a few other friends is other Mods. A lot of the time people will have a mod that installs something in the base Data folder that ends up borking everything.

The really bad new is no more Uncharted : Star Wars edition

This is a bad thing?

A BRICK WALL

Apples to Oranges. I don't think we'll ever try to be like that mod.

I think a good addition is a multiplayer GC that allows you to go through the eras. Or even just make "The art of war" a multiplayer GC. Having only the thrawn campaign as the only option gets old fast. Personally i find that GC the best because every aspect of the mod is in it basically. playing one era at a time is alright, but being able to play through all and watch your own multiplayer choices affect the GC eras would be a lot of fun.
Another point is depending on the era different sides have a much bigger adv. mainly b/c they may have a SSD. But if you had all eras in one multiplayer GC its more fair and you will have times of power and in turn so will your opponent.

The way we do Eras is through story scripting in the XML files. Those are disabled in Multiplayer, making MP Era progression impossible sadly. And I'm pretty sure AI is always disabled.
