Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: My favorite ship
« on: June 16, 2016, 06:14:12 PM »Isn't that pretty much the reason behind the red hulls of the CC anyways? If I remember correctly it was because they ran out of the usual alloy they used for the exterior and the substitute was red.
Red was all I had at the time, so I like the idea of a CC Praetor.
Really nice. Ive actually been trying to decide on a ship to 3D print from the mod for a while now. I wanna do the Phalanx but because of the little gubbins it's hard to get a size that doesn't break it and doesn't break my bank account.
I'll try Phalanx next week and see if I wind up with a ball of string.

That should add a nice mix to the capital lineup. Most Mods I've played give all Capitals similar stats and similar costs with mainly ability differences. This heavyweight will make gameplay more interesting instead of following the Corvette - Frigate - Capital - Titan mold. I look forward to the variety and different tactics.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: So this is how it ends

So... do I even qualify as a star wars fan now? Most of the stuff I liked for years has been declared "unofficial" and I don't know what the official stuff is yet. My tastes haven't changed, but the food did. Does this make me a defacto Fanon fan? I don't know if I like the sound of that.

I could stand to see a loading screen image for AotF. Now we can just reference AotF and see how long it takes for people to pull their hair out in confusion.

Yep. I get the feeling that weapon will be a good counter to the Empire's likely weak position in late game. Other factions will have superior units by then and the Empire needs a late game option. I would avoid the "Capital Victory" condition in those cases.

I keep forgetting that this mod will allow multi-faction Super ship fights that were impossible in EAW. I'm looking forward to some really high stakes encounters.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Reunification Strategies?
« on: October 29, 2013, 08:27:08 PM »I actually started a new game of this last night. Once you get Odik so you bring in the Knight Hammer, it gets fun. Although fighting Delvardus to GET the Knight Hammer is...not. Just takes FOREVER to build up your ground forces. But once you get some XR-85's with Century Tanks, anything not flying is in for a very bad day.
Definitely loving the Crimson Commands. Hate that they're so limited in quantities you can build, but with being able to build them, don't even miss being able to build ISD's.
Agreed. ISDs are not units I'd build for this scenario. Credits are far too precious until you have at least 5 planets. I must say I love these small campaigns where an AI can actually beat me and I don't have to plan around the FREEZE.

And that's the story of how Russia saved a US president's political butt. A rare event indeed.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: Is it possible for a foreign power to beat the Empire
« on: September 08, 2013, 01:30:37 PM »Don't Battlestars still have problems getting hit by nukes? And their fleet is not that large, even with the Cylons. Even if it was I do not think the Cylons would like Ion cannons.
Yeah, the whole droid problem. When has that happened before in the SW universe? Hmm...

« on: September 04, 2013, 07:45:55 PM »Best Star Trek Villains were the Dominion from DS9. He rest are sloppily done, but DS9 is really good.
I agree. It's a clever faction with power, strategy, evil plots, and a fleet. Most antagonists in the Trek universe were single lone wolfs that had an ace up their sleeve (not unlike some badly done Star Wars villains for that matter).

Yes. If this was about land battles EAW loses to just about anything.

« on: August 29, 2013, 11:55:16 AM »Also swarming them with TIE maulers(like 5 squads worth) then self destructing is effective and relatively cheap since the maulers are not very priceyHuh. What a very imperial tactic.

USELESS: I never use the ISD I because the ISD II is right next to it. The path finding is bad enough to waste all that space on a large ship that could have been an ISD II. Whenever I play as EOTH, I never really use any units aside from the top two destroyers... so either the top units are OP or the bottom units are useless or my EOTH playing method is horribly spammy (probably option 3).
OP: Turbo Towers and everything that's bad about auto resolve. I just played through Essence of War as EOTH and I couldn't auto-resolve a SINGLE ground battle without 100 to 1 losses. Man I hate ground battles sometimes.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: Joss Whedon
« on: August 24, 2013, 08:37:12 AM »
It has been so long since I've watched any of the six movies I've forgotten large chunks of them. I'm sure if I went back and looked at them with the same critical eye I give today's movies I'd see plenty of things wrong with them. In this specific case Whedon was talking about the ending alone. I agree with him. The ending was a cliffhanger right after a huge reveal "I AM YOUR FATHER". It could have been... better... but that's my only real complaint about ESB. That particular movie was my favorite along with many others.
I can't judge. I play almost every Star Wars game that comes out even though I don't watch the movies.
