There are some thing you can do that may help slightly in sins, under the options you can turn various items off such as the tactical grid etc which may allay some performance issues, you can find a lot of these options under the settings pane and some trial and error etc however as Corey noted sins is very CPU intensive so really look at what else may be hitting your CPU, for example are there other programs utilising CPU unnecesarily on your rig etc
