There should be a smaller MP campaign!  The current ones are too large, maybe something with 5-8 planets.

You haven't tried Pentastar FTGU with Balance and Flavor. It is really tough because you don't get to build ANYTHING even barely good until you get to Yaga Minor. All you can get on Bastion (besides your starting ships) are Enforcers, IECs, IPVs, and Interdictors. Dubrillion and Muunilinst (among other former CIS worlds) unlock Munificents and Missile Munificents (Munificents with most weapons replaced with missile launchers) but those are barely usable by the time you get there as the Remnant is coming at you hard with ISDs and VSDs.

Thanks for that suggestion.  That submod works flawlessly in concert with Imperialized Empire of the Hand, and the new GC conquests are awesome too.  The 2.1 Post-Zsinj Greater Maldrood is harder than the Pentastar FTGU, because at least they don't start right on your doorstep in FTGU!  The restriction of units (No Imperial II Star Destroyers until you can retake Zsinj area) means your capital ships are often outclassed, not to mention you have to get to a capital shipyard planet first.

This sub mod is really cool, trying to get started with a from the ground up campaign with empire of the hand but it is HARD!!  Much harder than pentastar

My best joke fleets are 20 Carracks and 20 Lancers, god is it a slaughter for my foes.

I think I'm going to give this a shot (or something close to it) with greater maldrood, I keep wiping out the fleets of the enemy with my bellator and crimson commands, but if you only limit yourself to starting cap ships and then lancers and carracks from then on it could be a bit more challenging!!   :police:

Three times in a row I got the you can't retreat for four minutes event. So that led to my fleet all dying by Zsinj. I just worked on killing his other heroes while his SSD wiped me. Killed like 3 of his space heroes one battle but after that I had to restart because the NR took my southern planets right after.

Try to kite them.  At least Zsinj is big and slow, imagine the fright of the last of your fleet being swarmed by 3 Secutors!  There is no escaping from the 24 (!!) squads they would spawn.

Has anyone gotten multiplayer mods to work for people that play between the Steam Version and the CD Retail version?
We were able to get the games to play the vanilla game by using the MP lobby fix but we couldn't seem to get it to work for any mods that we attempted to play by coping the files for the mod into the data folder.

yes I have played ICW 2.1 on game ranger with friends, it works as long as you don't have more than 2 AI for some reason.  Any more than that and it lags.

On that note, anyone want to play on gameranger?  Post on this thread and we can set up a time to do it.  A skirmish tomorrow night (3/4) at midnight GMT would be fun.

To get it to work I just followed the instructions provided by Corey in this thread and it was great

This and all of your other character studies are great!!!  Massive fan of the mod, and all the people that work to make it an engrossing universe.  I have read the Star Wars Bounty Hunters book- but don't know much about the expanded universe other than this mod and that book.  I'm trying to decide which one to buy to learn about these fascinating warlords.

Science fiction, by taking us out of a familiar world, lets someone more directly approach the core driving features of what it is to be human, jealousy of power, unrequited love, ambition, distress, contradiction, and madness.  This is brilliantly laid out in your character studies.
