As I do not have sins of a solar empire I did not know how the wds work in ascendancy I just read the thread and saw no mention of the point I made and thought I'd bring it up

Ascendancy Discussion / Re: World Devastator Role

According to the lore World Devastators not only were mobile factories but had the capacity to alter themselves to changing battle conditions meaning that as the battle/war went on the . Devastators would modify the quantity of turbo laser battery they had. Considering the cost of building one I think it would be interesting to add a function that the more planets it strips /battles it wins the more hard points it would add, to the point of ssd strength  battery numbers in addition to the more battles, resources it wins/collects the higher hangar capacity it had

Well if you read my Signature my tie hunter fleet took out lusyanka and I have yet to get my 2.1 working so I have no opinion other than what I've read in regards to the lucrehulk, but either I'm a brilliant battle commander or I'm just lucky but I have never lost a carrier or battle when I have a full fleet of storm commando escort carriers, except when the enemy has   a ton of corvettes; on a different note what is accepted short hand for the pa unique escort carriers I keep typing out storm commando escort carriers and am wondering what is the shorthand for it

Pentastar alignment have access to in my opinion some of the best carriers in the game venator star destroyer, lucrehulks and the storm commando escort carrier. In fact once I had a full fleet of 13 venators and they launched so many fighters and bombers that the Hunt option stopped working I had something like 150 individual wings of starships and while that kind of firepower should be a death bell to the enemy in a matter of minutes it caused so much lag that the battle took 2 hours to beat and even then I ended up auto resolving the battle. Not to mention that enough tie hunters can easily take on just about any fleet that does not have spammed corvettes

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / 2.1 installation problem (help)
« on: March 16, 2015, 11:40:54 AM »
Let me try to rephrase my earlier remark, I downloaded the 2.1 and it is saying that the archive contains invalid data. I did a Google search for the message and it told me to repair it I did and I started up thrawns revenge and there was no new content ( in other words it had 2.0 data no visivia for the hand and no lucrehulks for the pa) am I doing something wrong?

But it is not in my build order the space land chart or will it appear as soon as I conquer those planets? I'm at work but I'll try and get those planets if they do not appear it's because my game isn't patched up I dld the modern almost a year ago so that might be the problem

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Lucrehulk ship question
« on: March 13, 2015, 10:01:39 AM »
I don't know if my problem is I have not patched the game in a while but when playing the pa I have never been able to build lucrehulk ships yet the wiki say that I can are they a new addition i.e. need to patch or something else?

I'm surprised no one mentioned my method. Send them through asteroid fields it is the quickest and does not depend on what kind of fleet the enemy has you are essentially committing suicide it is the easiest way in my opinion

When it comes to strategy I use overwhelming fighter bomber support so I favor carriers obviously but I still need the carrier to defend themselves. And I'm trying to figure out the ship point cost to fighter/bomber squads. My math goes like this aurriette eoh carriers cost 3 points each and provide 7 squads of ships 3 bombers and 4 fighters ( 2 interceptor and 2 fighters) which I think is standard among carriers so filling up a full 40 point armada  equals 13 ships, each squad consists of 12 star fighters so 1092 individual ships 12 x 7 x13=1092 that is a lot of ships 1092 ships for 39 points seems reasonable but are there other ships like the victory class cruiser which give 3 squads for the same cost but can defend themselves a lot more efficiently so which is actually better? I don't have the specs on the actual firepower the ships themselves have, but is it worth it to have a spam fleet of victorys or actual carriers or some combination of the two or a different ship combo all together?

Star Wars Discussion / Re: How are TIE Fighters supposed to land?
« on: March 11, 2015, 11:36:39 AM »
According to Wookieepedia and other sources I can't remember, the ties Were almost always launched from racks in the ceiling if you played Jedi outcast on galaks ship there were racks for the ties but the actual fighters were structurally sound enough to land them on the wings but they weren't designed to do so the pilot hatch was on top and the pilot would need a ladder to get down so that's why there were racks it not only made it easier for the pilot to enter and exit but also leaving room for shuttles and transports on the hanger floor

I was thinking of ftl travel but sleeper ships are an interesting point if I may reference a different scifi group they remind me of warhammer 40k necrontyr, they used sleeper ships called stasis crypts to conquer the galaxy very slowly and then they turned into pseudo cybermen (doctor who anyone??) So yeah sleeper ships are probably the most economical way to travel the stars unless we prove the bane of science fiction Mr Newton wrong regarding faster than light travel

Long title I know wanted to get the point across regarding the topic.  In 100 years or so I believe that people will be travelling the stars. Does anyone think the same and what about some engineers in the future saying hey remember those old star wars movies well how about we build a star destroyer or venator from the prequels. My friend is a civil engineer and he says that would never happen we have a totally different design aesthetic that would prevent future star wars spaceship design. Opinions??
