Version 1.1 Update:

A few weeks ago, I looked through detailed maps and the Wookiepedia entries for each battle of the Yuuzhan Vong War, trying to meticulously place each planet and each ship in the right place. The result was Version 1.0, a thorough recreation of the extra-galactic invasion that was ultimately lacking in the gaming experience.

There were over twenty battles simultaneously occuring, creating immense lag on the map. With Version 1.1, the map chronologically begins at the Battle of Ithor, but I've also pre-placed ships for the fall of Yavin IV and Ord Mantell, creating a consistent front which somewhat isolates the Imperial Remnant. Despite the little territory the Remnant has, they use their infrastructure and ships very effectively, especially Supercaps, buying valuable time while the New Republic (you) builds up their Fleet. Disable Supercaps for a more difficult experience.

Most importantly, each faction now begins with all of their research facilities and shipyards. You are effectively the New Republic Fleet, with a few bases spread throughout the vulnerable Republic territory. You must build up the Defense Fleets and assist the Imperial Remnant if the Galactic Alliance is to survive.

I wanted the number of battles and ships involved to be a backdrop to the NR fleets you command, but map performance slowed for me as well.

Sadly, I don’t think the physical placement of ships around planets is alterable. But I agree, starting with the battle of Ithor is a great idea. The map wouldn’t be so cluttered, and the player can build up their forces. I’ll try it next time I get a chance. Thanks for your help!

Thank you Lord Xizer and Pali, hope you have fun! This is my first try at making a Star Wars-related map, but I've wanted to make one for some time.

OP, are you working with Lavo, or is this kind of a sub-mod for SoGE?

Hi tlmiller, I'm not working with Lavo, although I've seen him around on the SotP forum.

This isn't a sub-mod, just detailed placing of planets and ships using SoGE, as far as I could manage. To have more of a "campaign" map feel, the map originally had star-lanes that were in chronological order of each battle, but that just made a mess and heavily slowed down the entire map.

Using these maps of the Yuuzhan Vong War,

I looked up each battle on Wookiepedia, and placed the planets accordingly. Then, I placed the ships listed in each battle, as accurately as I could. For the massive battles on Fondor and Coruscant, as well as the numbers of each NR fleet, I extrapolated (and guessed) from the New Republic Fifth Battle Group and Yuuzhan Vong Armada Wookiepedia pages the number of ships per fleet.

It would be ideal if the Triggers panel on Galaxy Forge actually worked, but in lieu of that, I hope the detailed placement of each battle gives a sort of grand scale to the map that resembles a genuine campaign map feel.
