Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Endless Ship Spam (A.I.)

I've had a similar problem, but not in battle: If the enemy want's a planet, they will rush it with MANY small groups of ships (i.e. tons of "packets" that attack one at a time instead of all at once), then attempt finish it off with 6 capitals and a horde of heavy cruisers.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Surrender
« on: July 14, 2014, 02:02:57 PM »
I was thinking the other day of some mechanics I would like to see, and I though of this: surrendering. If a ground battle is going sour, or you have just 1 garrisoned unit left and no buildings (or vice versa), surrender to the enemy. Upon surrendering, any garrisoned units are placed into a "prison" (not an actual prison building) and are useless to the conquerors. Buildings, however, would be re-purposed for the enemy and would become functional buildings for them. To recapture the units, just take back the planet. buildings cannot be retaken, though. "But why not retreat" I hear you say, "you would keep your units". My response to that: time. In the ~10 second it takes to retreat, the enemy gets free, easy, defenseless targets to shoot at, plus a speed boost, and the player has no control over said units. Surrendering would be instant, thus ending any slaughter. This would only be for ground, but if you could (somehow) make it for space as well, that would be awesome.

Ironically, auto-resolve didn't resolve anything; It didn't work.

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Unending Combat

I got engaged into a space battle between myself (EotH) and the IR, myself with a sizable fleet, and the Imperials with only Turr Phennir (dumb AI?). I was able to bring him down with 3 corvettes, but the battle didn't end after that. There were no other enemies, and I had to wait until the AI decided to call a retreat, almost 10 minutes later (patients is a virtue).

An alternate idea: divide the galaxy based on the rings. i.e.: have all planets beyond the outer ring. Also, something I would like to see in the manual is a top-down view of the complete galaxy, please.

Thanks

I tried installing the editor into the ICW folder, but it didn't recognize anything. Also, it requires the bink32.dll or whatever it's called, and the other .dll's from the "corruption" folder.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / All-Planets GC

Now, I understand this could be a large undertaking, but my love (obsession) of collections and lists requires me to ask: Could we have an all-planets GC? A major problem I can see is the era/setting, so why not have it be like the infinities GC? Maybe even call it Galactic Domination?

That's quite fine since I consider this mod to essentially be the third expansion for EAW, and doesn't require any additional mods ;D

By the way, would installing it directly to the game cause any game play problems?

Hi, I was wondering how to set up the map editor to recognize ICW?

Hello, I appear to have a chronic case of disappearing diplomats. About 5 to 10 minutes into a new GC, my diplomats simply disappear, and I know it's not an assassination because they could be gone the moment they reach a planet. After that, I'm unable to make a new one. Also, I somehow got an influence into the negatives and kept the planet.
