Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / A Scenario
« on: July 08, 2015, 05:29:34 PM »
So I recently reinstalled this mod, after installing Ascendancy for SoaSE: Rebellion. And I must say, I've been having a lot of fun with it once more, but I've ran into a bit of bother while trying to take this planet. I keep getting my *** kicked  :-\\

So I've tried my best to explain the outcome of the battle in words, and as I saved before I began the assault, I simply just reload. But however, here it is.

I'm playing as the IR, and I descend upon the planet with all my ground forces, after a rather difficult battle in the space above. So I send forth my legions of doom to crush the Republic scum! (Nah not really). I just send forward a bunch of guys who probably don't even know what they've signed up for. But anyway, back to the battle! There was this one point I kept trying to take, that was essential for landing more troops. But I kept getting beaten back and annihilated whenever I tried to take it.

I can't remember the enemy units, but the ones I sent into battle were:

5 companies of Stormtroopers
2 companies of 2-M Saber-class Repulsor Tanks
3 Century Tanks
And 1 Juggernaut

If anyone could provide some sort of tactical plan for defeating the Republic, bearing in mind the information I have provided is rather limited (sorry), but my brain seems not to remember writing this, I'll perhaps go back to the battle and see what other info I can give.

Cheers!
Xizor.

I like both the Empire of the Hand and the New Republic, however the IR would come next should the option have been there to choose three.

How do you reunite the warlords?

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / The Katana Fleet

Could it maybe be that until you capture all the ships in the Katana fleet the mission can't end even if the rebels have been cleared from the sector?

For me it's the Sovereign.  I like the design better than the Eclipse or Eclipse II, and it still has the superlaser and gravity wells so that it really is a full fleet in a single ship.  Much weaker than the Executor/Viscount/Vengeance/Eclipse Dreadnoughts in pure combat, but still more than capable of destroying entire fleets of standard capital ships.

Yes but with this you have a super laser. So technically you are a match for them. But not in head on combat

The problem I find with the Majestic is lack of weapons, Shields are great but the few heavy turbo lasers and ion canons make them ideal for taking ships like frigates head on. But I would never take on a capital ship with one or two though, Maybe a victory but that's it.

One of my tactics would be for example:

Say Coruscant, Kuat and Byss where in a triangle formation.

Byss was the one facing out to the rest of the galaxy while Coruscant and Kuat where out of harms way.

I would amass a large fleet at Byss and just defend that in the safe knowledge that as long as Byss was held, Coruscant and Kuat would remain untouched.

Hope you found this helpful!

Mines has got to be the Eclipse! It has a Super Laser on it! What's not to like. The Sovereign would come a close second though.

Hey, I'm Prince Xizor and I am new to the forums but have been playing Thrawn's Revenge since early 2012. I find it very fun and enjoyable.
