Ascendancy Discussion / Re: More Factions!

While that would be nice, keep in mind that the minidumps from the 2GB limit in the game are basically the equivalent of the freeze in EaW, only more avoidable since we know the circumstances up front.
I really hope this is avoidable in Ascendency, I bloody hate the freeze in EaW

I'd love to see the Chiss but Corey's right they'd basically be the EotH without any Empire ships

The biggest pain in the ass is when you jump into a system with the intent of doing a hit-and-fade with a Super Star Destroyer only to find 10+ interdictors sat amongst their fleet

That's how I like to do it also.  On Art of War/Essence of War, I've had the freeze happen as early as Week 130...
It's so disappointing when it happens, all your hard work gone. I do quite like starting again from scratch though, that's always a challenge but it'd be nice to finish one of the big ones occasionally.

I hate the freeze, I like to take my time, take each planet, secure it then move onto the next till I crush all other factions but unfortunately due to the freeze I never get to finish any of the big GC's (I still play them though, just until they freeze).

Or you could just build up your forces in the Core, wait for the EotH and NR to duke it out, leaving their planets badly weakened, then kick them out as soon as possible, as I did last time! I recommend building lots of Tie Defenders for hit and run attacks here.
The only problem with waiting it out is you risk running into the freeze!

I alway put it on 'Admiral' difficulty, it feels like you're cheating otherwise (even though I sometimes get my ass handed to me)

I'm not sure if I've done 'Final Imperial Push' as the Imperial Remnant yet, I'll have to give it a go later on.

Hi guys, I've been playing 'Reunification' as the Imperial Remnant and at a random point during the scenario (it happens every time I play the scenario, sometimes right at the beginning, sometimes about two thirds of the way through) Daala is killed off for no reason, this always happens on the galaxy map, at first I thought I may have been bounty hunters or something similar but a few times now it's happened whilst moving between planets. It can be a little annoying given that you only start with 4 Imperial class Star Destroyers and everyone counts at the beginning (plus I hate losing my leader or any heroes). Every time Daala is killed off, in the left hand of the screen, the section that displays what other battles are happening in the galaxy comes up with 'the Warlords haven been defeated at Odik III'. Sorry if this has been raised and covered already, love the game!

Thanks! I don't agree with some of their policy's (blowing up peaceful planets for no real reason) but they certainly knew how to design a cool-looking ship (plus Thrawn's really was so cool, loved 'Outbound Flight')

I'm always playing single player GC, I just finish one then move onto the next and thanks to the number of factions each one manages to stay fresh. The only problem I have is I don't often manage to finish the larger GC's thanks to the bloody freeze.

I still remember playing Reunification one time, I had retreated back up, taken Calmari, Yavin, Bimmisaari and Kessel and I just got pounded repeatedly by wave after wave of Nebula's and Endurance's. Difficult is an understatement

Hi guys, I was just wondering what GC everyone thought was the most difficult or their favorite and why? For me it's 'Reunification' as the Imperial Remnant, starting with just 4 ISD's and 2 planets with the New Republic breathing down your neck in era 4 and no SSD's and no starting capital ship yard I've always found it to be a challenge (an enjoyable one though).

Ascendancy Discussion / Re: Heroes in Ascendancy

The heroes help set the scene for a lot of the GC's and it wouldn't be the same without them as the heroes for each faction really represent the individual factions. I obviously have no idea what work goes into creating a mod like Ascendancy, especially where the vanilla game doesn't use heroes to start with but with people like Thrawn, Parck, Ardus Kaine, Wedge, Daala, Isard etc, their ships are already going to be in the game so surely all they need is a little voice acting and an icon? I'm sorry if I'm completely wrong about this, I don't know the first thing about modding. (I also agree with Rovert10, Thrawn rocks!)

Star Wars Discussion / Re: What is your favourite capital ship?

The original Imperial-class Star Destroyer is a thing of beauty but the best capital ship for my money has to be the Super Star Destroyer, it just looks so awesome, it even looks good in Lego

There aren't heroes in default Sins. There's some stuff we can do to implement them, but I'm not sure if we will.

Was this ever resolved? I always enjoyed having heroes in ICW, it always made the GC scenarios more enjoyable for me and I did like the fact that once they were dead that was it, no respawning so I tended to try to look after them. I would be a shame not to have heroes in Ascendancy.

There is a variable speed change and pause in SoaSE.

Thanks, I've bought SoaSE Rebellion in readiness for Ascendancy, I've just not gotten around to exploring it properly yet.

This may seem fairly trivial and I'm sorry if it has been covered before or elsewhere but one of the things that I always liked about EaW and which remained in ICW was the ability to pause the game at any point so like during a battle you could pause, take a step back and decide upon options so I was wondering if there is going to be the ability to do this in Ascendancy?

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and this seemed like a good place to start! I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and of strategy games in general so I bought EaW as soon as it came out and played it to death and then one day, completely by accident, I found Thrawn's Revenge on ModDb and I downloaded it and haven't looked back! It basically blows the vanilla EaW out of the water so I thought my first post should be to say a massive well done to all involved! I've lost track of the amount of hours, days and weeks that have been eaten up playing this game. It even inspired me to spend a fair bit of money on a much better new computer just so I could properly enjoy it.
I'm very much looking forward to Ascendancy, the screenshots look fantastic, and if it's half as good as ICW then I can see me losing a lot more of my time.
(As much as I love the New Republic I'm Imperial Remnant all the way. There's nothing cooler than a Imperial-class Star Destroyer or a Super Star Destroyer)
