Title: heroes
Post by: lolzlolz on July 28, 2008, 05:34:36 PM
I was just thinking about how the heroes in the original FoC aren't as powerful as they should be (mainly the land ones.)
If you think about it how many times did Han Solo escape almost dying or Luke Skywalker.
Because you won't be making heroes buildable more than once I think it would be a good idea to make them canon in strength or you'd run out of heroes to use....
thanks

Any infantry hero can easily take out at least two squads of enemy troopers in FoC, which is a lot more than they can usually take at a time in any book I've read. Even in games (Jedi Knight being the obvious example) taking on 18 stormtroopers at the same time would be an idiotic thing to do. Therefore, heroes will not get boosted any more.

ok i guess

I kinda agree with lolzlolz, the heroes just seem kinda sucky in FoC.  And with 'em being only buildable once, shouldn't they be boosted a little.  Just my thoughts on the matter.

They'll be plenty powerful, but you'll still want to give them a support force, giving them the ability to take a planet on their own defeats the purpose of one time buildable in the first place

In fall of the republic would jorus c'boah be able to have a clone when he dies?

C'baoth already has his own thread, and this is off topic but I'll answer anyways. No. The Republic will not get the C'baoth clone, it was never seen and probably not even made before the Empire started.

I had just meant that they should be more like Bamfs, but still need help to take a planet.  Even though Vader in the first level in The Forced Unleashed slaughtered the wookies, he can't take a planet by himself......... can he?

Well, in FoC Zann for example can take any planet except for the most heavily fortified ones if you dont go there with an empty vallet due to bribe. And that's just about ridicolous. Just walk up in front of an AT-AT's guns and shout i'll give you 1k credz if you shoot at your own? Yeah right... And also, he has stealth and a friggin powerful AoE normal attack...

I think Tyber is the most overpowered of all, but most ground heroes in orginal EaW/FoC are plenty powerful, i don't think they need a boost.

I just had meant that if they are only recruitable once, beef 'em up a bit.
On a second note, how is Han and Chewie gonna work if, say, only Chewie gets killed on the ground?  Do you lose the entire hero, or do you have to kill both to get rid of 'em?  Or are they completely different heroes?

Thats a good question. maybe arbiter can answer it

You have to kill them both to get rid of them. They function in the same way as any other ground company, so it isn't something we could change.

Ah, that sux.  I hate them in the game, they seem to over-powered, especially chewbacca's steal vehicle thing.  He'll steal my AT-AT and then when i kill it, he doesn't take any damage, which is gay.

i agree with siegfried1 when the vehicle chewbacca is in is destroyed, he should take a little damage to his health

Maybe you could limit what he can take, i don't know how you'd do that though.

I have eagerly been awaiting this mod to what I feel was an incomplete game.  Before the note I just wanted to pass on my appreciation to all of you for taking the time to develop this mod.

I have mostly just been following along with the Forums as much as I could and I didn't see this suggestion.  The function of the Heroes to actually die I think is great; however, I am also a fan boy of some previous Star Wars games.  Rebellion being one of them.

Is there be a possibility for a hero to be hurt, in that case the timer countdown could start in the corner like the original EAW.  It would be like Mara having to eject out of her Headhunter in the battle for the Dark Force and then spending the following month recuperating.  It would even be possible to change the down time simulating a different degree of injuries.

It is just a thought.

Sorry for the double post but I wanted to add a follow up thought.

In a battle you use the following:

Hero dies 33% of the time if army/navy wins the battle (has the last unit)
66% of the time the hero will be injured

Hero dies 66% of the time if army/navy loses the battle
33% of the time the hero is injured

To add a little more spice to the injury you could have

25% 3 minute injury---flesh wound
50% 5 minute injury---lost his hand needs to learn how to use artificial one
25% 10 minutes----lucky to be alive-Mara example from above.

i think and dislike that idea but it is up to the mods controllers and i think that would be very very very hard.

Probably not possible, and if it is it would involve LUA scripting, and we don't have a LUA Scripter.

Thanks for the reply.  I love to play the games, but I have know idea what it takes to make or mod one.

Well I think CW gives you a better feel of Jedi's power.  Even in the most recent one Yoda solo'd a battalion. I mean I can see Han, Luke and the others being less powerful than the greats like Yoda, Mace, Dooku, and Sidious.  But the greats should be like SSDs in space.  And Grand Master Luke should be similar.

That would just be completely unbalanced.

You could make thracken sal-solo (Han's cousin) as a hero you receive if you conquer coriellia for the first time or you could have him as in indigenous hero (fleet or field) commander.

Didn't he hate the New Republic and Empire too much? Doesn't seem like he'd be all that great of a hero.
