Haven't seen anybody talking about it, so I figured I'll post it here.
My opinion:
It's an MMO, so it HAS to suck

QFT. if you have to pay after buying it, it's a no to me.

If they make this be the continuation of the KotOR story, something isn't right here. There weren't any jedi left after 2, and KotOR wouldn't be fun without jedi....Either way, I hate MMOs so I wouldn't get it.
-
well there were jedi left after Kotor 2, Atton, Mira, Brianna, Disciple, and Bao-Dur were all jedi if you trained them, they were the lost jedi that supposudly restore the jedi order. But even still, why can't they just make a regular kotor 3, instead of MMO, it really doesnt make much sense.
-
5 or 6 jedi isn't enough to justify making jedi a class people can use.
-
I like to play MMOs, but I think that paying every month is fascist-social-communist-militarist-terrorism, so I don't play ones that have monthly fees, (none right now though).
-

Financially it does. Why make a game that you sell for a one-off fixed price, when you can make an MMO that you can charge a monthly fee for?
-
And that's why we gotta boycott it; unless it's like Guild Wars and has no fee.

because most people arent going to get it because it's a terrible idea.
If it was set perhaps 15-20 years after kotor 2, it would make more sense, the jedi order would have been partially perhaps even fully restored. You could be a jedi going up through the ranks and having to investigate old jedi ruins and such....political uprisings.....and if you go all the way through the main quests....you would be charged with the duty of finding the whereabouts of revan and the exile.
But again, the fact that it's a mmo means it's going to be incredibly stupid.
-
Itll be ok if they did the game like phantasy star universe as in having a regular singleplayer campaign then an mmo side that you have to pay monthly and follows the events of the campaign loosely.

I like your idea of having to find revan. Perhaps if it was not an MMO then I would have bought that.
-
in my opinion this is a great idea as i think it will get a LOT of players and maybe it can replace star wars galaxies (which was good but SOE ruined it)
-
Why do it? Greed. the all time, infinitely replenish-able resource. MMOs are just money grabbers. How much money does it cost to maintain them? I'll bet $5 a day.
-
What's wrong with a company wanting to make more money. It's capitalism, get used to it. You don't have to buy it.
-
MMOs show the sad future of gaming. an industry where you can;t buy a game with a one-time fee.
-
Indeed. Although I do agree with you Beck, I do think that although they can do it, it is not right.
-
u guys just dont like mmos so i dont think u can just say it'd suck
i for one like some mmos...
most of u say mmos well there's no point so y play it?
and my response is there's no point in any other game u play (at least in reference to real life which isnt true for mmos either)
so i wouldnt be hatin on this
-
What's so bad about MMOs?
1) Repetitive gameplay
2) Monthly fees
3) Lack of a consequential storyline
4) If addicting, then you can spend waaay too much time on it
5) If not addicting, you wasted the money for the game and the monthly fee
And that's just scratching the surface.
-
imo those r lame excuses mainly based on money and i wouldn't say that spending waaay too much time is any different than any other game
and a lot of mmos have good story lines and r based more on a world than a storyline so.... ;)
-
MMOs are fun. I never denied that. I just said that paying every month is not fun. I don't see the point. The more you play the more you want to play, the more money is gone.
-
I do not like GRINDING. It is repetitive, it is dull, and it is a waste of time.
Unfortunately, many MMOs have that as the main activity during the game.
And when a person resorts to name calling, that means that the person cannot reason through an argument. ;)
-
I didn't call any names?
-
He wasn't talking to you.
-
Oh. Sorry, my b.
-
i didnt call any names....
also if u have ever played WoW u will note it isn't grinding as are several other main and most played moos i mean mmos :P
